Dire Straights for St. Vrain
After already seeing 85 positions, mostly teachers, slashed last spring for budget reasons, St. Vrain School District officials knew they would enter the 2008-09 year thin, then eight additional admin positions were chopped last month. That means a stretched district will be made to do more with less. Still, standardized test scores released last month suggest that the district’s schools are maintaining performance. How long will that last?
[What’s Next] The district will ask voters this fall to approve two property tax increases to fund faculty and facility upgrades. Vote for it.
