Since I just transplanted to Colorado from Pittsburgh, the opportunities to see great music up and down the Front Range are plentiful and the Aggie is a great venue for seeing music in an old school, down-and dirty locale.
Jazz can be an acquired taste, music that's close to inaccessible to all but the most devoted of fans. Fortunately, Quemando Salsa isn't like that. This album isn't without it's problems, but being a “difficult” listen isn't one of them.
Remember that movie about the Irish band The Commitments? Or even The Blues Brothers? On a more contemporary level, the Detroit band the Wrong Numbers? Funky to the Bone is just as much fun as any of that stuff.
