Press releases are provided to Yellow Scene Magazine. In an effort to keep our community informed, we publish some press releases in whole.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TRU Community Care Announces 50th Anniversary Gala Celebrating Five Decades of Compassionate Care

Community celebration will honor TRU’s legacy and support its continued service to individuals and families

LAFAYETTE, Colo., July 9, 2026 — TRU Community Care will celebrate 50 years of compassionate service across Colorado’s Front Range at its 50th Anniversary Gala on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

Tickets, tables and sponsorship opportunities are now available for the milestone celebration, which will bring together community supporters, healthcare partners, volunteers, employees and friends of TRU to honor the organization’s legacy and help ensure compassionate care remains available for generations to come.

The evening will include cocktails, dinner, dancing and a celebration of the people and community partnerships that have shaped TRU throughout its history. Proceeds from the gala will support TRU’s continued work with individuals and families navigating aging, serious illness, caregiving and loss.

“This anniversary belongs to everyone who has trusted, supported and strengthened TRU over the past 50 years,” said Samantha Black, Executive Vice President of TRU Community Care. “The gala is an opportunity to honor an extraordinary legacy of care while helping ensure that individuals and families continue to receive the dignity, compassion and support they deserve.”

Founded in 1976 as Boulder County Hospice, TRU Community Care was Colorado’s first hospice. The organization began when five visionary community leaders — Beau Bohart Rezendes, Kathryn Oakes, Karin Sobeck, Marcia Lattanzi-Licht and Dr. Alan Snyder — recognized the need for a more compassionate and supportive approach to end-of-life care.

What began as a small, volunteer-driven nonprofit grew from a simple but enduring belief: people facing serious illness and the end of life deserve care that honors their dignity, values and individual wishes while also supporting those who love and care for them.

Over the past five decades, TRU has expanded its services to meet the changing needs of the community. Today, the organization provides PACE, assisted living memory care, palliative care, hospice, grief services, community education and other programs designed to support individuals and families throughout aging, illness and loss.

While TRU’s services have grown, its commitment to compassionate, person-centered care remains unchanged.

“Fifty years ago, TRU’s founders saw a need in their community and chose to respond with courage and compassion,” Black said. “As we look toward the next 50 years, we remain committed to showing up for individuals and families during some of life’s most meaningful and difficult moments.”

Community members, businesses and organizations are invited to be part of the anniversary celebration by attending the gala, purchasing a table or becoming an event sponsor.
