FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Dark money group funded by One Main Street spends $70,000 on HD19 Democratic primary

ERIE, CO, June 16, 2026 — An independent expenditure committee called “Blue Collar Progressives” has spent nearly $70,000 to support Jillaire McMillan in the June 30 Democratic primary for House District 19, according to itemized filings with the Colorado Secretary of State. The committee is already the subject of an open state campaign finance complaint.

The complaint (ED2026-35, filed by David Sabados, received June 5) alleges that Blue Collar Progressives registered to support state legislative candidates but is also actually running ads for county commissioner races, outside its stated purpose. It claims the committee is misleading the public and filing false documentation with the Secretary of State, under the “prohibited expenditure” and “inaccurate filing” categories.

Blue Collar Progressives registered as an independent expenditure committee on May 27, just weeks before the primary. State filings show it has raised $305,000 and already spent nearly all of it in a matter of days. [Per its filings, the committee’s funding traces to One Main Street Colorado, a group that does not disclose its donors.]

One Main Street poured roughly $800,000 into Colorado Democratic legislative primaries during the 2024 cycle, backing candidates it called “pragmatic” over grassroots progressives. The same network funds the Colorado Opportunity Caucus, which is under investigation after approving a $30,000 retreat for lawmakers and lobbyists at a Vail resort.

“Voters in HD19 deserve to know who is trying to buy this seat,” said Colton Jonjak Plahn, a Democratic candidate running against McMillan. “Voters are tired of elected officials not looking out for their best interests. I am running a grassroots campaign that takes no corporate PAC and no establishment PAC money, and believe no one should be able to buy an election.”

Independent expenditure committees are legally barred from coordinating with the campaigns they support, and Jonjak Plahn’s campaign is not alleging coordination by McMillan or her campaign. The campaign’s concern is transparency: voters are seeing tens of thousands of dollars in outside spending on this race without knowing its original source.

Jonjak Plahn is a born-and-raised Coloradan, a Stanford-trained aerospace engineer who’s running to keep HD19 focused on the people of the district, not special interests. Learn more at coltonforcolorado.com.

Jeff Peckman

jpeckman108@msn.com

Rampant Fraud in Colorado Election Says Gubernatorial Candidate

Jeff Peckman, a Unity Party candidate for governor, claims fraud is tarnishing Colorado’s “gold standard” elections. No one has voted yet. So, where’s the fraud?

Peckman said, “Colorado county election offices, 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations, and commercial TV and radio stations are breaking the law by engaging in partisan politics. They’re defrauding unaffiliated voters by withholding critical election information. They’re illegally excluding minor party primary candidates from interviews, forums, debates, and voter guides. That benefits the two major political parties and undermines minor parties.

Over 90% of county election offices are not explaining how to vote a Unity Party primary ballot, or even that there is a Unity Party primary. Jefferson, Boulder, and Larimer counties are exceptions. They’re properly informing voters that they must request a Unity Party ballot from the county clerk or at the Voting Center.”

Major and other minor party members may also vote for a Unity Party ballot. However, they must first change their political party affiliation or withdraw their affiliation and become unaffiliated. June 8 is the deadline for either choice.

According to Peckman, “501(c)(3) non-profits, including churches and community news outlets, are hosting forums and debates, and publicizing ‘voter guides’ that illegally exclude Unity Party candidates. The IRS states on its website FAQ page that such organizations must provide, “…an equal opportunity to participate to all political candidates seeking the same office.’

Commercial TV and radio stations are violating federal law. 47 USC 315 states: ‘If any licensee shall permit any person who is a legally qualified candidate for any public office to use a broadcasting station, he shall afford equal opportunities to all other such candidates for that office in the use of such broadcasting station…”

Peckman asserts that “No legal basis exists for these various entities to exclude minor party primary candidates from official election information and these election opportunities, when major party candidates have been given such opportunities for the same office. The Colorado Public Radio voter guide has set the standard for equal and fair treatment of minor party candidates. Additionally, many county election websites and voter guides simply link to the website of the Colorado Secretary of State’s General Election FAQ page, which contains information that is incomplete, misleading, and confusing.”

Peckman added, “That’s why I filed a complaint with Secretary of State Griswold yesterday and requested an immediate remedy. All qualified voters are legally entitled to complete, accurate, and uniform election information that is not confusing. All qualified candidates are legally entitled to participate in these various election opportunities. This fraud needs to end so voters can make an informed election choice before ballots are mailed on June 8.”

Neighbors for Niwot Officially Registers as Campaign Committee, Mobilizing Community Opposition to Incorporation

Voting NO on Niwot Incorporation in November 2026

info@neighborsforniwot.org

303-829-6836

NIWOT, CO — Neighbors for Niwot announced today that it has officially registered as a campaign committee with Boulder County and the Colorado Secretary of State’s office, marking a significant step in the community’s organized effort to oppose incorporating the community of Niwot.

The group, which has been gathering signatures and statements on its website NeighborsforNiwot.org since March of 2026, formalized its status to ensure residents have an informed, unified, and forceful voice in opposing this ballot measure. Neighbors for Niwot urges community members to vote “no” on incorporation, as it is an inefficient way to address road concerns, will cause stress to local businesses, and will lead to unintended consequences, such as development for the sole purpose of creating revenue for the municipality. It will raise taxes immediately and lock residents into liability for the town’s decisions and debts.

“This is a solution looking for a problem that will significantly raise our taxes and raise the rent for our local businesses. Incorporating will create a ‘feed the beast’ mentality for revenue, especially given the Niwot Incorporation Committee’s unrealistic budget,” says committee chair Ari Adler.

Adler is no stranger to political campaigns, having served as Director of Operations for a successful U. S. Senate campaign in 2012.

The committee consists of the following members:

Ari Adler, Committee Chair

Elena Klaver, Media Coordinator

Mandianne Berg, Volunteer Coordinator

Steering Committee Members:

Rodney Archer

Lance Carlson

Michael DeLalla

Steve Ekman

Carla Hunter

Neighbors for Niwot

Jennifer Morrison

Stephanie Shearer

Affordability is a concern for Neighbors for Niwot. “This is not the time to raise property and sales taxes on anybody. I worry that many of the people who came here to make Niwot what it is won’t be able to afford it. Both residents and small businesses. That’s heartbreaking,” says Mandianne Berg, the committee’s volunteer coordinator.

Committee member Michael DeLalla is uncomfortable with the lack of transparency around the incorporation committee’s finances. “They’ve raised $150,000 from only 19 donors, with some donations as large as $20,000. Voters deserve to hear what they’re looking to gain from this.”

The group invites all Niwot-area residents to get involved by visiting NeighborsforNiwot.org and learning, voicing your support, and signing up to volunteer.

About Neighbors for Niwot

Neighbors for Niwot is a grassroots community organization of Niwot-area residents supporting a “No” vote on the incorporation of Niwot in this November’s election. Neighbors for Niwot is registered with the Colorado Secretary of State’s office as a small-scale issue committee.

Initiative 175 is a wolf in sheep’s clothing – public opinion tanks when Coloradans understand the impact to Colorado’s kids, schools, and the most vulnerable

Initiative 175 would divert $540 million from K-12 education, Medicaid, and higher education

Denver, CO – Today, Keep Kids First Colorado released a new poll showing that when Colorado voters know the consequences of Initiative 175, only 34% support it.

Proposed Initiative 175 earmarks funding for highway construction without new revenue, diverting $540 million dollars from Colorado’s general fund and the critical services it funds. The measure would also sweep hundreds of millions of other dollars from critical cash funds, which would likely require backfilling from the general fund. The non-partisan legislative council staff estimates the measure could cause $1-2 billion in impact to the state budget.

Global Strategy Group conducted the poll from April 16-21, 2026, and surveyed 800 likely 2026 voters in Colorado, 400 of whom were asked about Initiative 175. When initially asked about Initiative 175, 60% of Colorado voters said they would vote yes, though support is very soft, with just 17% saying they would definitely vote yes. After understanding that the money to fund highway improvements would come from Medicaid, K-12 education, and higher education, support drops drastically to 34%. In order for this constitutional amendment to become law, more than 55% of Colorado voters would need to vote yes.

“Support for the measure starts off just barely clearing the 55% threshold and is very soft. More importantly, after a single message in opposition, support collapses, meaning that this measure would have a difficult road to passage,” said Andrew Baumann, partner at Global Strategy Group.

The initiative is backed by corporations that stand to benefit financially from more highway construction. According to campaign finance filings, the Colorado Contractors Association and the Colorado Construction Industry Coalition are funding Initiative 175.

The Colorado Construction Industry Coalition (CIC) members are:

The Colorado Asphalt Pavement Association

Colorado Contractors Association

Colorado Ready Mixed Concrete Association

Colorado Stone

Sand & Gravel Association and

Portland Cement Association – Rocky Mountain Region

The Colorado Contractors Association board of directors is made up of representatives from:

United Companies

Chato’s Concrete, LLC

American West Construction, LLC

Harper Brothers Construction

Spencer Fane LLP

Castle Rock Construction Co. of Colo, LLC

Commercial Credit Group, Inc.

Kraemer North America, LLC

Flatiron Constructors, Inc.

Kiewit Infrastructure Co.

Arch Insurance

Lobato Construction, LLC

Brannan Companies

Native Excavating, Inc.

Holmes Murphy & Associates and Loveland Barricade, LLC

Initiative 175 is currently collecting signatures to qualify for the ballot. If Initiative 175 were to qualify for the ballot and pass, balancing the budget without major cuts to Medicaid, K-12 education, and higher education would be impossible. These three programs constitute approximately 70% of the state’s general fund budget.

More than 40 organizations and 46 legislators have asked the “Restore our Roads” coalition to withdraw Initiative 175 because of its drastic impact on Colorado’s budget.

More information about Initiative 175 can be found on the Secretary of State’s website.

March 17, 2026

The Colorado Secretary of State has validated signatures for another ballot measure that targets transgender youth and their families.

Colorado voters will decide in the November 2026 election whether to ban transgender youth from playing school sports and whether to strip families of the right to access gender-affirming medical care for their children.

I want to be clear about what this is: these are not Colorado values. These initiatives are a part of a national extremist campaign attempting to limit the rights of trans people and the entire LGBTQ+ community. They are bullying our kids first because they believe it polls well. It’s not right. Our own state legislature has rejected these policies multiple times. Now they’re trying to go around them. It’s up to us to stop them.

What’s on the ballot: Anti-trans extremists have misleadingly named these initiatives to trick voters into supporting them.

“Male and Female Participation in School Sports” would ban transgender youth of any age from playing sports alongside their classmates. This tells trans kids they don’t belong. Research is clear that excluding youth from sports and other group activities causes lasting harm to their mental health and development.

“Prohibit Certain Surgeries on Minors” would override Colorado parents and their children’s doctors by restricting access to gender-affirming care that medical experts recognize as safe and effective. The harm this measure would cause goes far beyond what the title would suggest.

These are attacks on Colorado families. And they’re based on the idea that a few hateful voices should have more say over our children than their own parents and doctors.

We asked yesterday and are asking again for you to help us fight for Colorado families and their rights to make their own decisions for their kids. Are you with us?

Members of the LGBTQ+ community have been used as political punching bags before, but they have gone too far this time by attacking our kids. Together, we will protect the whole community, especially trans youth and their families.

Forward together,

Bruce Parker, Executive Director

Rocky Mountain Equality

Here’s what we’re working on, why it matters, and how you can take action. From local communities to the state and county level, our combined efforts can create change.

What we have been up to: Last week, Bryn Long (he) and Ren Q. Dawe (he/they), both members of RMEQ’s Colorado Trans Advocacy Committee, testified against two anti-transgender bills proposed in the Colorado General Assembly. Thanks to their and many others’ testimonies these bills were defeated.

HB 26-1083 would have banned transgender people from competing in school sports in alignment with their gender identity, denying them a crucial community space and puts the safety and security of all children at risk. Watch Ren Dawe’s testimony opposing the bill here.

HB 26-1128 would have dramatically increased the statute of limitations for malpractice claims related to gender-affirming care. This diversion from standard malpractice regulations would have further limited gender-affirming care access by discouraging providers to provide the care at all. Watch Bryn Long’s testimony opposing the bill here.

The bottom line: Colorado House members rejected both proposals with a vote of 8 against and only 3 for, meaning they will not become law in the 2026 legislative session.

Keeping up the fight: Rocky Mountain Equality is fighting for our community on every front available. Here are some of the actions we’ve taken in the last month.

Fought back against the Trump administration’s discriminatory and unconstitutional proposed rules designed to ban gender-affirming care for youth by submitting official public comments opposing the rules. One rule would deny Medicare and Medicaid funding on the basis of a hospital’s provision of youth gender-affirming care, and the other would eliminate gender-affirming care for youth from Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

Joined an amicus brief in Pennsylvania v. Trump with over 60 organizations across the country to defend reproductive healthcare access from overly broad religious freedom exemptions.

Supported legislation defending trans youth from unnecessary exposure in public records due to name changes, which passed the Senate and is headed to the House of Representatives. Listen to Executive Director Bruce Parker’s (he) testimony supporting SB 26-018 here.

In spite of recent wins, trans people are still being put at risk by efforts to undermine their access to school sports and gender-affirming care in Colorado. Both of these proposals have submitted signatures to the Secretary of State and could qualify for the Colorado ballot in November 2026. We can’t let our guards down, and we need your support to continue to fight for the entire Colorado LGBTQ+ community. Be ready to push back on these harmful ballot measures and vote NO if they make it onto the ballot.

Governor Polis,

We write to you to ask that you do not pardon Tina Peters or commute her sentence.

In 2021, then-Clerk Tina Peters coordinated the breach of her own election equipment in the nation’s first public elections insider threat. Tina Peters granted unauthorized access to her county’s voting equipment, and in doing so she placed the security of Mesa County elections – and public trust in democracy – at risk.

Peters was found guilty of seven felonies and misdemeanors by a jury of her peers, in conservative Mesa County. Today, she remains one of the only people to face real accountability for attacking American elections. She has taken no responsibility for her actions and has shown no remorse.

The harm caused by Tina Peters has spread well beyond the borders of Mesa County. Her actions have been repeatedly used to spread conspiracy theories, amplify falsehoods, and fuel dangerous election lies. This in turn has increased the threats to election officials and election infrastructure across our state.

Releasing Tina Peters via pardon or commutation would validate her actions and embolden election denialism in Colorado and across the country. It would send a loud message to those who would attack our elections and democracy that they too may have immunity. It also would send the demoralizing message to those of us who protect our elections and democracy – our county clerks, their staff, election judges, and Secretary of State staff – that our work is meaningless.

Caving into the demands of a vengeful President does not make our state or country better off; it encourages more vengeance. Please stand with us on the right side of history by upholding Colorado’s laws and our democracy.

Sincerely,

Denver, CO – On December 11th, 2025, the U.S. Department of Justice sued Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold in her official capacity as Secretary of State in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado to compel the release of sensitive, unredacted voter information. Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold has issued the following statement:

“We will not hand over Coloradans’ sensitive voting information to Donald Trump. He does not have a legal right to the information. I will continue to protect our elections and democracy, and look forward to winning this case.”

This lawsuit follows the December 1, 2025 outreach from the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. DOJ to the Colorado Secretary of State’s Office to ask the Office to enter into an agreement to share unredacted voter data, including a voter’s full name, date of birth, residential address, and complete state driver’s license number or the last four digits of their Social Security number. On Tuesday, December 2, 2025, Secretary Griswold declined that request.

It also follows the November 18, 2025 letter that Secretary Griswold led to the DOJ and U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The letter was signed by 10 Secretaries of State seeking information on DOJ and DHS’s collection and use of state voter roll data and whether the DOJ and DHS misled state officials. Neither the DOJ nor DHS replied to the questions in that letter.

The DOJ also issued a broad request to the Secretary of State’s Office on May 12, 2025, to which the Colorado Secretary of State’s Office shared publicly available data consistent with applicable law.

Colorado is at least the 15th state sued related to the refusal to produce statewide voter registration information or provide information regarding their voter list maintenance procedures.
