Broomfield, CO- Broomfield’s art scene is about to get a thrilling upgrade at Buku Gallery, an unconventional new pop-up art gallery space in Broomfield, Colorado. The gallery’s newest exhibit, Rekindled Spaces, brings together eight accomplished Colorado artists whose diverse works span painting, sculpture, photography, and more—each piece offering a fresh way to see and feel the world. Buku Gallery offers an unforgettable opening night and invites Broomfield residents to be among the first to experience this vibrant new artistic hotspot right in the heart of Broomfield. Buku Gallery offers artists space to rent for shows and exhibits.

Rekindled Spaces showcases eight Colorado artists—Mike Andrews, Missy Borden, Elissa Quist, Parker Rice, Lydia Riegle, Camie Rigirozzi, Eric Wall, and Mary Williams—in a dynamic blend of contemporary painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed media. Highlights include steel sculptures exploring depth, abstract paintings layered with meaning, vivid oil works framing joy as rebellion, and hand-cut weavings that blur the line between 2D and 3D. Together, these works create a visually rich and thought-provoking exhibition that dares viewers to revisit forgotten dreams and breathe life into the hidden rooms of the soul we’ve long abandoned.

Missy Borden’s layered abstract paintings blend spontaneity with intention, inviting a dialogue between the known and then unknown.

Parker Rice utilizes a strong focus on light, subject, and composition to create a powerful visual narrative within his photographs.

Lydia Riegle creates highly charged and complex work of which is a cross-pollination of abstract painting and printmaking, illustrating the rich and often complex concepts of connection and back-stories.

Elissa Quist’s textured and saturated oil paintings feature oppressive structures destabilized by bursts of vibrant organic forms, reflecting on joy as an act of rebellion.

Camie Rigirozzi, a long time Broomfield Artist, creates dynamic mixed media paintings anchored in an expressive use of mark making, line and color, prompting reflection on the boundless range of emotions.

Eric Wall’s innovative hand-cut weaving technique expands the traditional boundaries of painting, blurring the lines between 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional art forms and challenges viewers to reconsider the possibilities of the medium.

Mike Andrews’ innovative sculptures, constructed from steel, investigate the relationship between depth and texture.

Mary William’s work is inspired by her surroundings, but rather than replicating nature, she uses it as a launching point where a fusion of technique and a celebration of form and color come together to create vibrant sculptures that enrich public spaces.

Located at 900 Santa Fe Drive, D’art Gallery hosts “D’art 3 – D’art Gallery 3rd Anniversary Members Exhibition, an exhibition of work by eighteen Member Artists from Thursday, July 28 through Sunday, August 28, 2022. August is a month of celebration for the gallery with events to acknowledge the 3 rd Anniversary for the gallery and American Artist Appreciation Month.

Exhibition Events:

The artists host an Opening Reception on Friday July 29, from 6 – 9pm. The gallery is celebrating American Artist Appreciation Month with an Artists Reception on Friday, August 12 from 6 – 9 pm. To celebrate the 3 rd Anniversary, the artists are hosting a special Anniversary Party on Friday, August 26 from 6 – 9 pm. D’art Gallery will be participating in the Art District on Santa Fe events: First Friday on Friday, August 5 from 6 – 9 pm, Third Friday Collectors Night on Friday, August 19 from 6 – 9 pm and “Sundays on Santa Fe” on Sunday, August 28 from 11 am to 4 pm.

“D’art 3 – D’art Gallery 3rd Anniversary Members Exhibition” The exhibition marks the Third Anniversary for the gallery. D’art Gallery opened at 900 Santa Fe Drive on August 1, 2019 featuring 18 contemporary artists. The gallery has thrived during the past three years in spite of COVID, economic downturns, and changes in the Art District on Santa Fe.

Exhibition Events:

The Artists of D’art Gallery have manifested their original intention of providing a contemporary, progressive, professional art exhibition space. Each member exhibits in a shared solo show once a year and participates in three group exhibitions annually. Last year, with the addition of Gallery East, D’art Gallery has offered exhibition space to artists in the area to exhibit in the Art District on Santa. The gallery continues to persist in providing an exhibition space where members enjoy sharing their creativity, commitment and dedication to the art making process.

This is a community of artists who support each other in their creative exploration and evolution of their personal expression. With deep gratitude and appreciation for the support D’art received during the past three years, gallery members chose “D’art 3 – D’art Gallery 3rd Anniversary Members Exhibition” for the title of the exhibition to celebrate how the gallery has grown into a “gallery to the third power”.

At D’art Gallery, art appreciators will discover a wide variety of artistic techniques, styles and points of view to create a unique collection of contemporary artwork. The work exhibited by members highlights each artist’s personal expression using various media; ceramics, painting, print-making, photography, sculpture and mixed media.

The exhibition features eighteen Denver area contemporary artists exhibiting diverse and thought provoking art: Steve Austin, Terrel Bailey, Jaime Belkind-Gerson, Carol Bivins, Lisa Calzavara, Barbara DeMarlie, Suzanne Frazier, James Holmes, Ashton Lacy Jones, Tara Kelley-Cruz, Carrie MaKenna, Morgan McKenna, Emily Oldak, Lydia Riegle, Kim Roberts, Jean Smith, Vicky Smith and Cheri Vilona.

The work of participating artists can be viewed at https://dartgallery.org History Of D’art Gallery Eight months after opening, COVID lockdown hit and the gallery responded to the Governor’s and Denver Mayor’s requests to close all businesses that were not essential. The March exhibition was closed on March 17, 2020.  Immediately, the following Monday, D’art Gallery repositioned a “moveable exhibition wall” so that work hung on that wall, plus the two front walls could be viewed from the front door and set up a group show. The exhibition, “D’art Gallery Walk Up Window Members Exhibition” ran from: 3/23/20 – 5/15/20

In April when online galleries seemed to be the only answer for shuttered galleries, D’art Gallery, in addition to the “Walk Up Window” Exhibition, added an online exhibition, “Through the Portal”, featuring members work on the D’art Gallery webpage from; 4/27/20 – 5/15/20.  

On May 15, 2020, D’art Gallery was able to open the doors to the gallery exhibition space again but to a limited number of people (10 or less). The members repositioned the moveable wall and set up a second group exhibition; Andrà Tutto Bene”, translated from the Italian as “Everything is Going To Be All Right”. From 5/15/20 – 6/14/20, D’art opened with limited hours.

On 6/15/20 the gallery continued the limited hours the gallery was open but resumed the exhibition schedule that had been interrupted by the COVID restrictions. The gallery moved forward, against all odds, and reorganized the exhibition schedule to include all the artists whose exhibitions had been interrupted by the COVID restrictions. Since then the gallery has been able to maintain a regular exhibition schedule of member solo exhibitions and group exhibitions.

Gallery Hours:
Thursday Noon – 5pm, Friday Noon to 9 pm, Saturday Noon to 5 pm, Sunday, 1 pm to 4 pm, with special Sunday Hours 11 am – 4 pm the last Sunday of each month for “Sundays on Santa Fe”.
