LONGMONT, Colo. — July 5, 2026 — Five years ago, Nepali Jatra was born from a spark of hope: a small gathering at the Longmont Museum to share the heart of Nepal with a few neighbors. We prepared for a modest group; instead, nearly 450 people flooded the room, overflowing with a level of love and trust that changed our trajectory forever.

What began in an auditorium quickly became a movement. The walls couldn’t hold the growing energy, and for the past two years, Nepali Jatra has taken to the streets of Downtown Longmont, transforming the city into a vibrant hub of Nepali culture, food, and music.

On Saturday, July 11, 2026, Nepali Jatra marks its 5th Anniversary with a landmark Special Edition: Inclusive Communities. This year, the festival also stands in tribute to the 250th Anniversary of the United States and the 150th for Colorado, celebrating the diverse roots that make our community thrive.

In a powerhouse partnership, Nepali Jatra is joining forces with the Longmont Multicultural Action Committee (LMAC) and the Habitat for Humanity of the St. Vrain Valley BeLove Community initiative. Together, we are building a “Beloved Community” where relationships, understanding, and true belonging are the foundation.

With over 20 multicultural groups representing Nepal, Tibet, India, Vietnam, Mexico, and Native American communities, the streets will come alive with:

• The World Stage: Live performances and music that bridge the gap from the Rockies to the Himalayas.
• The Belove Table: Free food samples from across the globe, offered as a gift of hospitality.
• A Living Rainbow: We invite everyone to bring their vibes and wear their traditional ethnic or cultural attire. Let’s celebrate the roots that make us beautiful.

“Nepali Jatra grew because the community chose to embrace it,” said Sunanda Dangol, Executive Director of Nepali Jatra Initiatives. “This year, we are opening our arms wider than ever. It is still rooted in Nepali pride, but it is also a declaration that every culture matters. You are seen, you are heard, and you belong here.”
