The Town Council approved a new Deputy Town Administrator position in its Regular Meeting on May 14. Following Council’s approval, the position was posting internally and as of Monday, May 20 Patrick Hammer has been named the newest Deputy Town Administrator for the Town of Erie. 

As the Town of Erie continues to grow in population, the organization is growing right along with it. To maintain a high level of service to the community, our departments, programs, and infrastructure have all expanded. At the leadership level that has meant 12 department directors reporting to the Town Manager and Deputy Town Manager. Adding a second Deputy Town Manager is good for:

Focused support for all departments departments.

Increased staff support for the Council.

Effective coordination with regional partners.

Thoughtful succession planning.

With more than two decades of municipal government experience, primarily in Parks and Recreation, Patrick has demonstrated unwavering dedication to enhancing community spaces and recreational services. He began his tenure with the Town of Erie four years ago as the Parks & Recreation Director, following a successful 10-year period in a similar role with the Town of Superior. Patrick holds a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration from the University of Northern Colorado and a Master’s degree in Business Management from Colorado State University Global Campus. His educational background provides a strong foundation for his strategic and administrative capabilities in managing extensive parks and recreation programs and capital projects.

During his time with the Town, Patrick has achieved many significant milestones. Under his leadership, the Parks & Recreation Department retained national accreditation with the National Recreation and Parks Association; an achievement currently awarded to only 210 parks and recreation departments nationwide. He also effectively managed more than $20 million in capital projects, including leading a very talented team through the completion of Erie Community Park, the redevelopment of Coal Creek Park, adding an outdoor ice rink to Downtown Erie, and creation of the Town’s first ever public art program. His strategic vision led to the successful acquisition of $7 million worth of land for open space preservation and facilitated the 10-year extension of a dedicated tax for land acquisition, park development and maintenance.
