Where We Roam: A Show for Public Lands – an Exhibition of 20 Artists Celebrating and Advocating for our Shared Spaces

Boulder, CO – The NoBo Art District is delighted to present Where We Roam: A Show for Public Land, a group exhibition of Colorado landscape artists calling for the celebration and protection of our public lands, open July 3-25, 2026, at NoBo Bus Stop Gallery. This show brings together the voices of twenty local artists, who highlight the beauty of our country while advocating for the continued protection of public lands. In community, our voices are amplified and a powerful catalyst for change. This show invites you to enjoin these art pieces and demand protection for our public lands.

About the Exhibition

As artists, we have always found it easy to celebrate this land. Ridgelines, old-growth forests, mesas, alpine lakes, glacial peaks, these are the places that brought us together for this show. Sitting on the precipice of this country’s 250th birthday, we choose to celebrate and demonstrate an unwavering commitment to our public lands. Right now, our public lands are under threat. The current administration has moved to revoke the Roadless Rule, expanding mining, drilling, and clear-cutting, slashing funding to national forests and national parks, and overall attempting to remove protective legislation. We watched, and we could not stay silent.

So we got to work.

This collection is our response, twenty Colorado landscape artists who share a deep, personal love for these lands and a refusal to look away from what is happening to them. We believe art has always been one of the most powerful ways humans have called each other to action, and we believe that activism is most powerful when it happens in community. We invite you in. To stand with these works, to feel what we felt when we made them, and to leave caring a little more fiercely about the wild places that belong to none of us and are shared by all of us. These lands are worth celebrating. They are worth protecting. And we are stronger when we do both together.

A note on perspective and these lands: This show is a limited perspective coming from predominantly, but not entirely, white females. We welcome, encourage, and honor additional perspectives and opinions. We hope to create a collaboration of artists for the future that better represents the beautiful diversity of our country.

We are standing on the traditional homelands of the Ute, Cheyenne, and Arapahoe people. We honor this land as theirs.

About NoBo Art District
