County Clerks May Begin Mailing Ballots for the 2026 Primary Election

Denver, CO – Beginning today, Colorado County Clerks may begin mailing ballots to active voters for the June 30, 2026 Primary Election.

“County clerks will mail ballots this week to Colorado voters,” said Secretary of State Jena Griswold. “I hope every eligible Coloradan will make their voice heard in the upcoming Primary Election.”

County Clerks must mail ballots to voters by Friday, June 12, for the Primary Election.

Coloradans who are affiliated with the Colorado Democratic Party, Colorado Republican Party, Libertarian Party of Colorado, or Unity Party of Colorado by June 8 will receive only the ballot of the party with which they are affiliated.

Unaffiliated voters will be sent a ballot for both the Democratic and Republican Party Primary Elections. They may also contact their County Clerk to request a Unity Party ballot. Unaffiliated voters may only vote one ballot.

The Libertarian Party of Colorado has prohibited Unaffiliated voters from voting in the Party’s Primary Election pursuant to 1-4-1304(1.5)(c) C.R.S.

Ballots for the Libertarian Party of Colorado and the Unity Party of Colorado’s primaries will contain only one contest each. The Libertarian Party of Colorado has nominated two candidates for Secretary of State; the Unity Party of Colorado has nominated two candidates for Governor.

Eligible Coloradans can register to vote and update their voter registration at GoVoteColorado.gov through June 22 in order to receive a ballot in the mail. After June 22, Coloradans can still register and vote in person at a voting center until 7 p.m. on Election Day.

This year, 137 voting centers will be available for voters by June 22, and 437 drop boxes will be available for voters by June 23. Voters can look up their locations, opening date, and hours at GoVoteColorado.gov.

Important information for Colorado voters:

Coloradans should always use trusted sources when searching for information on elections. Information from the Colorado Secretary of State’s Office is distributed via ColoradoSOS.gov or GoVoteColorado.gov.
