They say the third time’s the charm. After two large protests in summer 2025, the No Kings protest returned to downtown Longmont, Colorado, on Saturday, March 28, 2026, to send a message to those in office that protesters stand behind the U.S. Constitution and not behind an administration that acts like it’s run by a monarchy as it carries out ICE raids and starts foreign wars without Congressional approval.

Colorado Congressman Joe Neguse led off the event by offering positive words to encourage change during remarks to the large crowd that was gathered at noon at Roosevelt Park. After his comments and several other speakers, protesters left the park and marched to Main Street. Once there, they lined both sides of the street, plus the center median, from Longs Peak Avenue down to 4th Street.

Colorado Congressman Joe Neguse speaks to the crowd at Roosevelt Park.

Among the signs there were ones that read, “Orange Lies Matter,” “Men of Quality Don’t Fear Equality,” Fund Healthcare Not Warfare,” “Draft Bannon,” and “Get Money Out of Politics.”

Kathryn Whitt, of Longmont, said she found the experience very hopeful. “It was good to be around a lot of kind people supporting each other and seeing many people come out and saying what’s happening isn’t normal, and it’s not acceptable,” she said. “And it gives me a lot of hope that people will show up at the polls and that the votes will reflect a lot of what we saw today.”

Cars slowly made their way up and down Main Street to an almost non-stop cacophony of horns and gestures of thumbs up and waves between drivers and protesters. Some drivers carried signs of their own.

Erin Woltkamp and Kathryn Whitt, both of Longmont, with their signs.

Erin Woltkamp, of Longmont, said, “It was very uplifting to see so many people out here and using their voice and speaking out against something that is wrong. And I was really excited because I’m a teacher and I saw a lot of fellow teachers, and I saw a student of mine out here, just really neat to see all the generations, all the people coming out to speak up.”

The crowd size was estimated at between 6000-7000. One of last summer’s protests had an estimated 5000 people in attendance, and several people today commented that this one appeared to be a larger turnout than the past events.

No Kings rallies were held across the U.S today.

One protester created a stir and faced some backlash with a sign that read, “Jesus created two genders. Abortion is murder.” But the rest of the signs were in solidarity, protesting the actions of the current White House administration, and the event was peaceful overall.

Nancy Johnson, of Longmont, said as she was leaving the rally, “I’m here today because I’m seeking unity with all the other people who are against this administration. I think it was a great turnout. Way to go, Longmont.”

“If you have never watched your rights be taken away on television, you cannot begin to understand how LGBTQ+ people are feeling today. Today’s Creative 303 decision does not include a clearly defined legal limiting principle, the Supreme Court of the United States, in a 6-3 ruling, granted the right to some businesses to discriminate against a legally protected class of people for the first time in our history. This opinion is unclear, unsound, and may have an immense impact on the rights of all members of protected classes including LGBTQ+ people. The implications and parameters of this decision will be worked through the legal system for years to come, but we know that today, it allows discrimination against protected classes, including LGBTQ+ people.”

Bruce Parker, Deputy Director of Out Boulder County
“Today is a devastating day for LGBTQ+ people and anyone else who cares about equality and justice. Although the Creative 303 case was focused on LGBTQ+ people, this decision impacts anyone who is a likely target of discrimination and makes anyone in a protected class a potential target. We are sad, angry, and determined to continue fighting to ensure that LGBTQ+ people, and all other protected classes, have fair and equal access to goods, services, and opportunities.”

John Tayer, President and CEO of Boulder Chamber
“Discrimination, including that based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression, is abhorrent to the values of our business community and should be for our society at large.”

Jonathan Singer, Senior Director of Policy Programs of Boulder Chamber
“A free market should never guarantee freedom to discriminate. We will be reaching out to our businesses with opportunities to demonstrate their public support for the LGBTQ+ community in the shadow of this historically tragic decision.”

Thanksgiving is a thing of the past, which naturally means it’s time to focus on the next holiday. Time to put up Christmas lights, buy marshmallows for hot cocoa and battle the masses in your local shopping mall to find the perfect gifts for all of the loved ones in your life. Christmas. If done right, Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year. Family, friends, food… I’m evening planning on getting a tree this year. With ornaments. Maybe even some fake snow. I’m ready for Christmas. And nothing gets me in the Christmas mode more than a good ol’ annual Holiday

And nothing gets me in the Christmas mode more than a good ol’ annual Holiday parade. Who doesn’t love getting bundled up, seeing some ridiculously awesome holiday floats, (which are typically full of people throwing candy), judging if the parade Santa’s beard is real or fake and listening to some not-so-terrible renditions of your favorite holiday songs.

‘Tis the weekend for the holiday parades to commence. Check out the following parades in a city near you– and remember to not forget your gloves, the lid to the hot cocoa thermos or your kids. Forgetting those important items will definitely put a little damper on your holiday spirit.

“Parade of Lights”
Friday, December 2nd | 7:00 pm | 901 Main St. | Louisville
The best part of this event could very well be the Living Nativity Scene happening an hour before the 7:00 pm parade start. Live animals and a live choir will be present to get attendees in the spirit. The parade route runs along Main St, which happens to be my favorite street in Louisville. Stop in at nearby Lucky Pie for a pint and some delicious pizza before you head out to watch the parade festivities.

“Lights of December Parade”
Saturday, December 3rd | 6 pm | Pearl St. Mall| Boulder
Boulder’s, “Lights of December Parade” is in its 24th year, so you know it’s going to be good. Post up along the historic Pearl St. Mall and watch as over 50 festive floats, fire trucks, the Farview and Boulder High School marching bands and even St. Nick parade along Broadway, spreading holiday joy throughout the crowd.

“Parade of Lights”
Saturday, December 3rd | 6:30 pm | Main St. | Lyons
This parade of lights is by far my favorite local holiday parade. Sure I might be a little bias due to my Lyons upbringing, but any December parade that ends with fireworks is alright with me! Check out live music in Sandstone Park before the parade, and join parade-goers as they take over Main St. to watch the finale fireworks show.

“Longmont Lights”
Friday & Saturday, December 9th & 10th | 5-8 pm | Longmont
Longmont is throwing the mac-daddy of holiday kick-off celebrations this year, by throwing a holiday party that’s so big, two days are needed to make it all happen! Start off by checking out the stunning lights in Roosevelt Park along with free hot cocoa, reindeer visits (real ones, no joke), trolley rides, carolers and ice carving. That’s some serious holiday business. Then check out the “Lights on Parade” at 5 pm on Saturday night, followed by a fireworks display at 6:30 pm. Longmont doesn’t mess around when it comes to the holiday spirit!
