Many Jews identify as Zionists, and Run for Their Lives is widely recognized as a Jewish community event. Treating the attacker’s framing as conclusive while setting aside how the targeted community understands the violence is not a serious argument.

The reliance on Wikipedia definitions for complex and contested subjects such as antisemitism, Zionism, Middle East history, and international law further weakens the argument. Wikipedia can provide background, but it is not an authoritative source for resolving long standing scholarly and political disputes. Even Wikipedia cautions against treating its entries as definitive in controversial topics.

The letter also engages in repeated and highly charged criticism of individuals such as Rachel Amaru, Wynn Howell, and District Attorney Michael Dougherty. It attributes distortion, manipulation, and other forms of bad faith to them without providing evidence that meets the weight of such serious accusations. This style of argument is not careful analysis. It is an attempt to discredit individuals rather than engage their actual reasoning, and it is a particularly troubling way to discuss people who are responding to a violent attack in their own community.

Taken together, the structure of the argument consistently works to narrow the definition of antisemitism in a way that excludes violence directed at Jewish communal spaces when political language is used to justify it. The effect is to shift attention away from the impact on the targeted community and toward discrediting those who identify the attack as antisemitic.

Boulder has long valued open debate and civic honesty. That requires space to criticize governments and policies freely, but it also requires taking seriously the reality of antisemitism when it appears in acts of violence against Jewish communal spaces. Dismissing that reality does not protect free speech. It erodes trust and undermines community safety.

Hiring a company run by a former official for the company that would gain by any sale is extremely suspect, and I wonder how much it cost us to have some guy tell us everything is ok dokee. Need another opinion, an outside opinion.

You most certainly WILL be exposed to radioactive materials on Rocky Flats. About 0.8% of soil radioactivity (according to NIST measurements) comes from Pu isotopes [less than 6% of total alpha particle emitters], so the rest is all NATURAL. There’s also plenty of outdoor radon (0.4 pCi/liter) and alpha-emitting decay products, about 10 million times higher than what Ketterer measured on a very windy day immediately downwind of the Pu windblown ‘plume’. In the USA the most well to do quintile earns $155,000 at a minimum. I call that upper quintile the wealthy quintile. Erie’s affordable housing is almost entirely affordable only to the wealthy.

In the US it’s fairly common for an employer to call people to come in to work and to also tell people to go home arbitrarily. Most jobs that pay minimum wage don’t have regular hours to plan a life around nor regular income. One week an employee might work 35 hours and another week 29 hours.

What about buying a house. Who is the largest employer in Erie? St Vrain Valley School district, Town of Erie, King Soopers, Lowes, Safeway. Should someone who works in King Soopers in Erie be able to afford to buy a house here?

I’ve reached out for help, and as of yet I have made inroads into getting that help, but the process is slow. I don’t wanna be on the streets, I’ve been in those homeless shelters before, and nothing more than concentration camps compounding problems upon problems. I sought help there for my résumé, employment, and more and got a double barrel family friendly finger.

Well I agree that people congregating in camping together does not look good, we need a solution for the problem, and the cause peoples willingness to change. Not a forced compliance. Mayor Coffman needs a mental evaluation if he thinks that has ever work throughout history. If he wants to solve the problem, more opportunity for employment needs to be provisioned, Housing cost me to come down dramatically, and help and hope for those that

We had covered Hidden Treasure in other articles during the shut-down and it was an oversight to leave them off this list. It has been remedied and they are included, along with the article 7 News featured them in!

What is missing here is the total number of Covid-19 deaths in Boulder county, and as of today, July 30th, that is 74. So what are 13.8% and 17.4% of 74? 10.2 and 12.9. Since these are people, let’s assume these percentages came from the numbers 10 and 13. That is, based on the population distribution, we would expect 10 people to have died of Covid-19 in Boulder, but actually, 13 people died. Now, hopefully the author understands that in a random sample, we wouldn’t expect EXACTLY 10 Hispanic people to die. We expect it to be close to that number. Is this evidence of discrimination? I doubt anyone with any mathematical understanding would draw that conclusion.

My conclusion is that this article was accepted on the premise that the formula “X is discrimination” is pretty effective these days. No one even questions or examines the numbers. Surely there is some discrimination, but saying that everything is discrimination actually takes force away from the arguments in the cases where it does matter.
