Longtime Front Range saxophonist, flutist, composer, and music educator Joe Anderies returns with a world-class quintet for a summer performance not to be missed. The Joe Anderies Quintet, featuring special guest trumpeter Eric “Benny” Bloom, will light up both the stage and the Denver music scene with an exciting program that spans straight-ahead jazz, funk, and beyond.

This special concert celebrates several meaningful musical connections. Pianist Eric Gunnison and drummer Paul Romaine played integral roles in Joe’s acclaimed Music Beyond Borders jazz education program, serving as primary jazz mentors alongside Joe’s elementary and middle school band programs. Today, Joe and Eric continue their commitment to developing young musicians through the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts (CCJA) program which Paul Romaine oversees. Bassist Gabe Rupe is a proud product of that program, having gone on to study at Juilliard and the Peabody Institute, and is currently pursuing doctoral studies in jazz at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. Featured guest Eric “Benny” Bloom and Joe have also developed a close musical friendship, sharing the stage on numerous occasions in recent years.

Joe Anderies has been a prominent figure in the Denver and Colorado jazz communities for decades as a flutist, saxophonist, composer, and educator. A pioneer in Denver’s thriving jazz education scene, he has served on the board of the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts. Across all three Dazzle locations, Joe has produced numerous sold-out collaborations featuring both local and internationally renowned artists, including Alex Heffron, Benny Maupin, Larry Coryell, Ron Miles, Gabriel Santiago, Chuck Lamb, Onaje Allan Gumbs, and Shunzo Ohno.

Joe’s most recent recording, Resonance, features all original compositions and has received enthusiastic reviews worldwide. The album is currently streaming on more than 190 digital platforms.

Special Guest: Eric “Benny” Bloom

Originally from Bristol, Rhode Island, Eric “Benny” Bloom has established himself as one of the most versatile trumpet players in the country. He studied at William Paterson University, the New England Conservatory of Music, and the City College of New York. Throughout his career, Eric has toured extensively across the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, and Asia with a wide range of artists.

His television appearances include The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Last Call with Carson Daly, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Today, Late Show with David Letterman, and Conan. In 2011, Eric joined Lettuce, widely regarded as one of the premier funk bands in the world, further cementing his reputation as a dynamic and sought-after performer.
