The Global Village Museum is thrilled to launch our summer programs for young learners – a playful, hands-on way for kids to discover world cultures right here in Fort Collins! Leading the charge is Sam Hensley, our new Volunteer and Collections Manager, whose passion for art and education is helping shape a summer full of creative adventures.

Sam holds an MA in Art History and has taught at CU Boulder. His experience spans curatorial and museum education roles at the Art Museum of West Virginia University, CU Art Museum, and the Denver Art Museum. He brings a vibrant mix of academic expertise and kid-friendly creativity to the museum’s youth initiatives, including an upcoming summer offering called Mini Explorers: Toddler Art Time.

This playful, kid-friendly program takes place on Thursday, July 10, from 10 am to 11:30 am and invites little artists (ages 2 to 5) to dive into a colorful finger-painting session. Children will create their own masterpieces using pre-outlined designs inspired by artistic traditions from around the world. To bring the experience to life, each art activity will be paired with a children’s story from the same culture featured in the artwork!

This sensory-based program is ideal for families looking to introduce their little ones to the wonders of world culture in an age-appropriate, playful setting. Whether your child is a budding Picasso or just loves a good story, this program offers a welcoming space to explore, express, and connect. No child is too young to start discovering the world and all the ways we share who we are through art.

At least one adult must attend with each child to assist with the painting. Admission is $35 per child or $10 for Museum youth members, and all materials are included. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged for this colorful cultural adventure!
