The Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMoCA) presents “Yes &…”, a groundbreaking exhibition celebrating human creativity in the age of artificial intelligence, opening January 29, 2026, and running through May 3, 2026. Curated by Tobias Fike and Donald Fodness, this thought-provoking show brings together 18 eclectic artists who embrace the improv principle of “yes, and…”—accepting ideas and building upon them with deliberate human choices. Opening reception takes place Wednesday, January 29, from 6:00-8:00 PM at BMoCA’s downtown Boulder location. As artificial intelligence dominates creative conversations, “Yes &…” offers a powerful antidote to creative fatigue by celebrating what makes art fundamentally human: the wavering line, thick brushstroke, hand-squished clay, rough-hewn wood, and the visible traces of artists’ hands and minds at work. Each of the 18 featured artists presents two works that demonstrate both the continuation of their signature style and bold departures from established formulas, embodying the improvisational spirit of experimentation and evolution. This exhibition draws attention to deliberate artistic choices—pairing found objects, cultural content, new technology, and formal elements—revealing the creative process that distinguishes human artmaking from AI-generated content.
