American Songbook VI: The Brill Building Lights Up Manhattan

March 6 & 7, 2026 | 7:00 PM
Bethany Lutheran Church | 4500 E Hampden Ave, Cherry Hills Village, CO

By 1962, the Brill Building in New York City contained 165 music businesses. A musician could cut a demo, find a publisher, promote a record and cut a deal with a radio promoter without leaving the building. Some of the most popular American songs were written there. Join us as we pay homage to the music and the artists who came from the powerhouse of creativity that was the Brill Building. Featuring Sweet Caroline, I Feel The Earth Move, and Bridge Over Troubled Water – and performers – Neil Diamond, Carole King, and Paul Simon. We will be joined at this concert by several of our favorite performers – the stunning Overland High School Cecilian Singers directed by Philip Drozda and the fabulous Chamber Music Society of Greater Denver.

Joining the Chorale are:

  • Ellie Havens, Clarinet (Cherry Creek Chorale alto section)
  • Hillary Schefter, Harp
  • Margaret Dyer Harris, Viola
  • Chappel Kingsland, Drums

Before the performance, patrons are invited to attend “Before the Baton,” a pre-concert talk led by the Chorale’s conductor beginning 20 minutes prior to the performance. This engaging presentation will explore the stories, history, and cultural impact behind the evening’s music.

As part of its March philanthropy initiative, Cherry Creek Chorale is proud to partner with Metro Caring, a Colorado nonprofit dedicated to ending hunger at its root. Patrons will have the opportunity to support Metro Caring by adding a donation during the ticket checkout process.

Organizer

Cherry Creek Chorale

The Chorale was founded in 1980 by former students and parents of the Cherry Creek school system. The Chorale became a 501(c)(3) organization in 1986. With approximately 100 members, our repertoire covers secular and religious classics, modern works, popular music, spirituals, jazz, and regional and folk favorites. We regularly commission new works, including arrangements of already-published works.
