Event Details

From Colorado Muslim Vote:

“Dear Community Members –

We spend a lot of time demanding better candidates, but do we show up to support them when one actually appears?

The ones who refuse corporate PAC and AIPAC money.

The ones who prioritize our needs at home instead of sending our tax dollars abroad to fund unnecessary wars and genocide.

The ones who speak openly about justice, equity, and the issues our community actually cares about.

Julie Gonzales is that candidate.

She has been a consistent, vocal advocate for everything we say we want in a representative. She doesn’t just check a box, she shows up, speaks out, and puts her name on the line. Candidates like Julie are rare. And when one appears, the responsibility falls to us to show up for her the way she shows up for us.

Because we cannot demand better candidates if we aren’t willing to support the good ones in their time of need.

Julie is in her time of need. Let’s show up for her and make sure she knows that our community is behind her in this election.

Date: Saturday, April 18, 2026

Time: 2-3:30 pm

Location: 2990 S. Peoria St., Aurora, CO 80014

We invite you to come, have some tea and sweets (courtesy of Jerusalem restaurant), and meet Julie.

Even if you can’t give or aren’t in a position to give, we still want you to attend. There are lots of ways to support candidates beyond money, and we will address that at the event.”

Organizer

Colorado Muslims Vote

Colorado Muslim Vote exists to move our community from fragmented participation to coordinated civic engagement, so that when we speak, we are heard, and when we vote, it matters. Colorado Muslim Vote (CMV) was created in recognition of a long-standing challenge that our community lacks political power. Despite our numbers, our level of engagement, and our visible presence, our political influence falls short of what it should be. It is because we mobilize in moments but lack sustained coordination. We engage passionately but not always strategically. We operate in silos, which makes our priorities easy to overlook, and elected officials do not feel accountable to us beyond election season. CMV is about changing that dynamic.
