This Con·nect event will feature brief performances and dialogue with two extraordinary artists whose work connects with the Museum of Boulder’s current exhibition, “Proclaiming Colorado’s Black History”:

  • Nicholas Felder, a Black queer artist, composer-vocalist, activist, educator and CU Boulder PhD student who creates art around identity, communal joy and healing and youth empowerment
  • Zan Johns, a poet, award-winning best-selling author and retired CU Boulder human resource leader who calls herself “a truth-telling vessel of grace, light and love.”

Following the performances, there will time for discussion among the artists, attendees, local art organizations and the event’s organizers. Autographed books by Zan Johns will be available for purchase.

Schedule:

5:45 p.m.: Doors open

6–7:00 p.m.: Welcome, performances and sharing

7–7:30 p.m.: Small group discussions

7:30-8 p.m.: Continued socializing

This event is part of “Con·nect”, a series of social gatherings designed to amplify BIPOC artists and to strengthen relationships and partnerships among BIPOC artists and arts organizations in Boulder County. The evening is organized by Boulder County Arts AllianceBoulder Museum of Contemporary Art and CU Boulder Office for Public and Community Engaged Scholarship together with The Museum of Boulder.
