The Longmont Genealogical Society (LGS) presents a compelling performance of one of the many Rosie the Riveters, on Weds. Oct. 9.
Audience members will learn about the great contributions that women made to World War II efforts and meet the character Gail Murphy, a bullet case worker at the Denver Ordnance Plant, in Gail Beaton’s portrayal of Colorado’s Rosie the Riveter. Rosie the Riveter is the name given to US women during World War II throughout the country who worked as welders, bullet makers, and wide variety of factory jobs vital for the war effort. In Chautauqua tradition, Gail will first take questions as the character, then answer questions as the scholar/actor.
The LGS membership meeting will start at 1 pm, and the presentation will begin at 1:30 PM. All are welcome to this free presentation, which is co-sponsored by the Colorado Humanities.
The meeting will be held in-person and virtually on Zoom, in the Friendship Room at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 803 3rd St., Longmont. Volunteers will be available to answer questions about getting started with family history.
