“Catalysts” by Renowned Artist Jann Haworth

The work features 34 stenciled portraits of behind-the-scenes individuals (nominated by local arts organizations) who are integral to the success and vibrancy of Denver arts and culture.

In the summer of 2024, the DTD invited the honorees, local artists and community members to participate in a collaborative workshop, led by Haworth, to initiate the stencil-making process. Workshop participants created stencils by cutting life-sized photographs of the honorees and transferring the images onto fine art paper. Haworth later added the bodies, heads, shoulders and additional elements, creating an emerging character for each portrait that makes up the final composition of the artwork. After completing the artwork, Haworth photographed and processed it to be enlarged and printed at billboard scale. The DTD billboard consists of three panels, each measuring 26 feet by 24 feet.
