Catharsis: Abstract Works by Mollie Jackson
NoBo Art Center
May 1–23
Closing Reception: Saturday, May 23, 3–6 pm
Catharsis centers on the act of release—where feeling moves faster than thought. These large-scale abstract works are built through intuitive, process-driven layers of paint, mark-making, and collage, allowing raw emotion to surface without restraint. The result is a body of work that reflects transformation in real time, tracing the shift from internal tension to visual expression.
Mollie Jackson Bio
Mollie Jackson (she/her) is a Boulder-based artist whose large-scale abstract paintings pulse with energy. Working intuitively, she builds layered surfaces through paint, expressive mark-making, and collage, translating raw emotion into visual form.
She earned her BFA from the University of Iowa and apprenticed with the Chair of Sculpture at the Art Institute of Chicago, refining her understanding of form and process. Raised in a home shaped by her mother’s abstract painting practice, she developed an early and lasting connection to the studio.
Jackson has presented solo exhibitions across Colorado and will begin a residency at the Firehouse Art Center in summer 2026.
