Combining sleek electro-funk, romantic falsettos, and clever lyrical wordplay, Cherub’s wry songs about dating and clubbing are the stuff that dance parties are made of. The only thing these guys take seriously is having fun, and that’s exactly what they do at their live shows, hyping up the crowd with their infectious energy and swaggering showmanship. Fans couldn’t help but bust a move to synth-heavy bangers like “Jazzercise ’95” and “XOXO” on the band’s 2013 tour.

Tennessee-based Cherub is the brainchild of singer Jordan Kelley and guitarist Jason Huber, formed in 2010 with an eye towards updating the sounds of their funk idols like Prince and Zapp and Roger. The duo’s digital debut album Man of the Hour was an underground hit, resulting in shows across the US and paving the way for polished 2012 follow-up “Mom and Dad.”
