Colorado 150 | Film Festival

Event Details

Colorado turns 150 this year — and we’re marking it with the biggest cinematic celebration the state has ever seen. 150 films. 150 screenings. Historic venues from the mountains to the plains. Watched together, in person, the way movies are meant to be seen.

The CO150 Film Festival is a collection of the best cinema ever made in Colorado, about Colorado, or by Coloradans — past and present. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime celebration. And it’s a genuinely good excuse to get off the couch.

Running May through November, a network of regional partners will bring the films you film lovers voted for in the Colorado Film Hall of Fame to life at venues across the state. Speakers, artists, local experts, and community businesses will join each screening — connecting the stories on screen to the communities watching them.

Browse upcoming screenings across Colorado and grab your tickets before they’re gone!

Standouts

Little Miss Sunshine at Red Rocks Amphitheater

The Hoover family puts the fun back in dysfunctional by piling into a VW bus and heading to California to support a daughter in her bid to win the Little Miss Sunshine Contest. The sanity of everyone involved is stretched to the limit as the group’s quirks cause epic problems as they travel along their interstate route. The most prominent Colorado connection to Little Miss Sunshine is its acclaimed soundtrack by the Denver-based gypsy-punk band DeVotchKa.

Presented in partnership with the Sundance Film Festival and CO 150 Film Festival live at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Monday, July 13th, 2026.

Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid at The Holiday Theater

The true story of fast-draws and wild rides, battles with posses, train and bank robberies, a torrid love affair, and a new lease on outlaw life in faraway Bolivia. The infamous outlaw’s first-ever bank robbery took place in Telluride, while parts of the movie were filmed in the southwestern part of the state.

Screens Tuesday, August 4th at 7 pm at the Sie Film Center and Sunday, September 6th at 2 pm at the MCA Holiday Theater as part of our CO150 salute to Colorado Film!

Stagecoach at the Denver Botanic Gardens

John Ford’s landmark Western revolves around a group of passengers aboard the Overland stagecoach bound for Lordsburg, New Mexico, in the 1880s. The film’s stagecoach route travels from Arizona toward Lordsburg, New Mexico, cutting through the rugged terrains of the American West.

Screens Monday, August 31st at 7 pm at the Denver Botanic Gardens.

Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science

The intrepid explorer Indiana Jones sets out to rescue his father, a medievalist who has vanished while searching for the Holy Grail. Following clues in the old man’s notebook, Indy arrives in Venice, where he enlists the help of a beautiful academic, but they are not the only ones who are on the trail, and some sinister old enemies soon come out of the woodwork. The film had many parts shot in Colorado.

Screens Thursday, August 20th at 7 pm at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science.

The Hateful Eight at the Sie FilmCenter

While racing toward the town of Red Rock in post-Civil War Wyoming, bounty hunter John “The Hangman” Ruth and his fugitive prisoner encounter another bounty hunter and a man who claims to be a sheriff. Hoping to find shelter from a blizzard, the group travels to a stagecoach stopover located on a mountain pass. Greeted there by four strangers, the eight travelers soon learn that they may not make it to their destination after all. Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight used Colorado for its exterior snowy scenes, shot in and around Telluride!

Screens Tuesday, August 25th at 6 pm on 35mm film as part of our CO150 salute to Colorado Film at the Sie FilmCenter, Denver’s Only Independent Movie Theater.

Elevation at the Sie FilmCenter

Post-apocalyptic survivors find refuge in the Rocky Mountains to hide from giant, insect-like creatures that can’t live above 8,000 feet. However, when one of them needs life-saving supplies, they risk it all to venture into the danger zone.

Screens Sunday, August 16th at 12 pm as part of our CO150 salute to Colorado Film at the Sie FilmCenter, Denver’s Only Independent Movie Theater.

Red Dawn at The MCA Holiday Theater

Set during a fictional World War III between an increasingly isolated United States and the Soviet Union, the film follows a group of teenage guerrillas, known as the Wolverines, fighting against a joint Soviet-Latin American invasion force in Colorado.

Screens Sunday, September 27th at 2 pm at MCA Denver’s The Holiday Theater.
