The concert opens with Arturo Márquez’s Danzón No. 2, a celebration of cultural vibrancy and rhythmic energy inspired by the traditional Mexican dance. Its lively melodies and dynamic spirit invite us to embrace the joy of human connection. In the spirit of intergenerational community, the Niwot High School Symphony Orchestra will join the Boulder Symphony for this piece.
Violinist Mitchell Newman then takes the stage to perform Lucas Richman’s “Paths to Dignity” Concerto for Violin. This deeply moving work highlights the resilience of the human spirit, offering a stirring meditation on the humanity and dignity of those experiencing homelessness.
