This summer, students will have a one-of-a-kind opportunity to participate in a five-day leadership camp at the Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures. Running from July 15 to 19, this hands-on experience invites young leaders to explore what it is really like to work behind the scenes at a museum.
Participants will handle real artifacts in the Museum’s collections archive, learning proper techniques for documentation, preservation, and storage. Guided by museum professionals, students will also discover how exhibits come to life and explore the care and cultural significance behind each object.
The program includes training on how to lead engaging and informative tours, with students practicing communication techniques, storytelling, and how to connect with diverse audiences. By the final day, participants will present their own mini-tours to friends and family, celebrating their progress with a festive closing event.
Throughout the week, students will develop skills in public speaking, cultural education, collaboration, and leadership—all great additions to a college or career resume, especially for those interested in museum work or related fields.
Museum hours: 11 am to 5 pm, Tuesday through Saturday
