MORE ABOUT THE REPERTOIRE
The program opens with George Balanchine’s Serenade, his first original ballet created in the United States, which breathes movement into Tchaikovsky’s “Serenade for Strings” and remains fresh and inspiring with each performance of this iconic expressive neoclassical choreography.
Ji?í Kylián’s Petite Mort poetically interprets one of the most intimate moments of human experience through witty and ironic contemporary choreography, set to two of the most famous piano concertos by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Closing the performance with rhythmic melodies by composer Philip Glass, Twyla Tharp’s transcendent and exuberant contemporary work In the Upper Room showcases a diverse range of choreographic styles that will leave you stomping your own feet!
