About This Event

Motus Theater hosts Zoom information sessions for the What Love Requires storytelling project seeking parents of adult transgender or nonbinary children. Info sessions on Saturday, July 26, at 10:00-11:00 AM MST or Thursday, August 14 at 6:00-7:00 PM MST. This project develops autobiographical monologues with eight parents about supporting their gender-diverse children to thrive. In a time when parental rights are weaponized and gender-affirming care is under attack, this project asserts a counter-narrative: what love requires is listening to, affirming, and protecting our children. The 12-week monologue writing process begins September 2025 via Zoom (Saturdays 10:00 AM-12:30 PM MST) with December 2025 performance opportunities in Boulder or via Zoom. No writing experience required—only the desire to share your truth to inspire protection of parental rights for families of gender-diverse children. Parents are encouraged to bring their adult transgender/nonbinary children to the info session. Free Zoom sessions explain the project and answer questions.

Motus Theater

Since 2010, Motus Theater has been sharing stories to bring the voices and experiences of communities on the frontlines of violence to center stage. “The stories we tell construct our identities,” said Rita Valente-Quinn, Producing Executive Director. “They go beyond entertainment to enlighten, inspire, and catalyze action. Shared stories about the personal, the communal and the national all shape our own understanding of the world and the deep-seated power dynamics that govern us.”
