Event Details

Have you ever experienced a fire or natural disaster near your museum or historic site? The White River Museum did last summer, and thanks in part to Julie Page and The Colorado Cultural and Historic Resources Task Force (CHR-TF), their director Teresia Reed safely managed the situation. When the Lee fire was recently too close for comfort to the White River Museum, Julie Page and the CHR-TF task force stepped in with valuable support. CHR-TF works to improve Colorado’s mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery efforts for cultural and historic resources. At this class, Julie Page and Mark Nelson will share information about the work of CHR-TF and the resources it can provide in disasters, as well as highlight simple steps that organizations can proactively take to prepare for disasters both big and small.

Museum Connections is a monthly series held virtually on the 2nd Wednesday of the month from 12-1PM. Every month a new topic will be covered that focuses on fundamentals of museum work as well as new and innovative solutions to museum work. Classes are taught by History Colorado staff as well as other museum professionals from across the state of Colorado.

The cost to attend a single class is only $10 per person and open to museum volunteers and professionals from all backgrounds and institution sizes. All classes are FREE for members of History Colorado’s Affiliates Program. Register for the event here.
