Event Details

My City Academy helps immigrants, refugees, and newcomers in Denver connect with city resources and community support so they can settle in and thrive. This free community leadership program gives participants the tools to understand how city government works, find and connect with available resources, and grow as community leaders.

My City Academy (MCA) 2026 continues, and we want to thank the dozens of participants who have already joined us this year, both during our virtual sessions and in person at Virginia Village earlier this month. We’re grateful for the strong engagement and thoughtful conversations as community members from across Denver continue learning about city resources, leadership, and civic participation.

We’re now excited to continue with an upcoming in-person cohort at Ruby Hill, featuring two weekly sessions. My City Academy is a free community leadership program designed to help immigrants, refugees, and newcomers connect with city resources, access community support, and grow as leaders. Participants gain practical tools to better understand how city government works, navigate services, and make a meaningful impact in their neighborhoods.

City of Denver

Denver, the capital of Colorado, is an American metropolis dating to the Old West era. Larimer Square, the city’s oldest block, features landmark 19th-century buildings. Museums include the Denver Art Museum, an ultramodern complex known for its collection of indigenous works, and the mansion of famed Titanic survivor Molly Brown. Denver is also a jumping-off point for ski resorts in the nearby Rocky Mountains.
