The Bonfils Girl

The Bonfils Girl is a drama with more than a few dashes of comedy, starring Karilyn Starks in the title role of Helen Bonfils. The Bonfils Girl chronicles the life story of Colorado’s own Helen Bonfils. Miss Helen, as she was oftentimes called, was the first woman to serve as publisher of a major daily newspaper, The Denver Post. Helen Bonfils was a pioneering woman producer on Broadway and in London. She was an incomparable philanthropist. An example of her efforts is the Denver Performing Arts Center, a premiere arts complex that would not exist today without her generosity.

The Bonfils Girl was written by Colorado playwright Mike Broemmel and is directed by Selena Naumoff. The play is produced by Act One Productions and Theatrix USA. The Bonfils Girl is supported by Denver Arts & Venues through the ARPA Cultural Partnership Activation Program.
