About This Event
NoBo Art Center presents They Disappeared Toward the Water, a solo exhibition by interdisciplinary artist Nathan Storey, opening Friday, February 6, 2026, during Boulder First Friday. This marks Storey’s first Colorado solo exhibition, exploring queer histories, memory, and loss through reimagined archives and ephemera. Titled after John Rechy’s novel Rushes, the show examines how LGBTQ+ histories fade and resurface like tides—submerged, reclaimed, and preserved. Storey, founder of UNDERTOW (Colorado’s first arts organization dedicated to queer visual culture), works with printed matter to trace queer desire and survival. His work has been featured at ICA San Diego, Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, and galleries internationally. Experience contemporary queer art and archival installations at this NoBo Arts District exhibition celebrating LGBTQ+ culture and history in Boulder.
