Event Details

An immersive dance/theater event unfolding inside a series of shipping containers installed within the old Macy’s parking garage. Each container reveals a distinct visual world brought to life through movement, text, and image. Audiences are invited to wander, discover, and gather – to set distraction aside and reconnect through observation, conversation, and shared experience.

Set in a near future where human interaction has largely retreated into digital space, UNCONTAINABLE imagines a renegade group of artists who secretly gather at sundown to reclaim what has been lost: the intimacy, electricity, and shared breath of being together in real time.

This immersive performance draws from memories of a not-so-distant past when devices were turned off, conversations unfolded face-to-face, and communal experience was a daily practice where differing ideas could coexist, collide, and be explored.

Part performance, part adventure, audiences are invited on a new kind of journey that moves through space, memory, and imagination while igniting nontraditional, abandoned corners of our city with unexpected life.

Spaces unfold one after another. You move through intimate scenes of connection: a record-listening room, a secret library, a back porch under the stars, a hidden garden with a wishing well, and a nightcap in a kitchen bar.

Co-created by Amanda Berg Wilson and Katie Elliott with text by Jeffrey Neuman; Music Direction by Paul Fowler

3rd Law Dance/Theater

3rd Law Dance/Theater is an award-winning contemporary dance company that has been creating original theatrical and site-specific work for over two decades. 3rd Law began with a collaboration between choreographers Susan Alkaitis and Katie Elliott. In 2000 3rd Law transitioned to the artistic direction of Katie Elliott and dance ethnologist, Jim LaVita. Partners in life and art, Elliott and LaVita incorporated 3rd Law on 01/01/01, the first day of the new millennium. The Company professes a creative vision that merges a powerful, energetic bodily idiom with a thoughtful and personal spirit where the voice of every artist is honored in the process. We desire to create a challenging magical space for artist, collaborator, community and audience. A space where a range of emotion emerges from a place of motion in the body. Live production, different at every performance, responding to an interaction between performers and audience makes dance a unique language. We believe live dance performance is a visceral and bodily experience that moves the audience in ways that cannot be accomplished by other means.

The Catamounts

We are THE CATAMOUNTS. We roam the hills in and around Boulder, Colorado. We acknowledge that we are living in a time that demands the constant reinvention of artistic forms. We make new and innovative professional performance for the public by finding critically acclaimed, audacious scripts and imbuing them with our signature integration of music, movement, food, and drink, or just creating our own brand new boundary-pushing plays. We teach students methods by which to create original, collaborative, interdisciplinary performance by utilizing multiple artistic disciplines in the process of storytelling. We push the boundaries of traditional theater to incorporate the musical trends, storytelling techniques, community rituals, and expressive media used in popular and contemporary culture. We were founded late in the fall of 2010 by Amanda Berg Wilson and Ben Berg Wilson, inspired by their decade-long collaboration through Striding Lion, a Chicago-based performance group. We seek audiences and communities who desire their performance-going and arts-education experiences to be adventurous and unique. Might that be you? Let us feed your head.
