What’s Going On?!? is collaborative art exhibit where artists Megan Gael McCarthy, Cyndy Hinkelman-Smith and Jacque Michelle Malick have created visual interpretations of songs that address a variety of social issues. Displayed side by side, their pieces demonstrate how unique each piece is and how different art forms can convey the same message.

There will be an Artists Talk on Thursday, July 2nd from 2-4pm. The exhibit will be hanging June 30th through the month of August and is open to the public during normal business hours.

Megan Gael McCarthy

Megan Gael McCarthy’s oil paintings capture that moment between sleep and conscientiousness, as you try to hold on to your dreams but they slip from your mind like sand through your fingers. Her work blurs the line between reality and abstraction, allowing you to be drawn in by glimpses of recognized memories. Each piece is grounded by something concrete, then the artistic elements of color, shape and line become the true focus. This combination of the known and unknown allow ample room for connections to remembered experiences while provoking exploration into a reinvented world of our own. Her soft, out-of-focus style accentuates the ethereal sensation of a place born from imagination. Formally trained at Virginia Commonwealth University it was years later that Megan began her professional art journey in her home state of Colorado. She's attended numerous workshops, many of them at La Porte Peinte Centre pour les Arts in the medieval village of Noyers-sur-Serein, France. The spectacular Colorado landscapes, her European travels and second form of art, floral design, are frequently the inspiration for her work. While she creates for the joy and mental health benefits it provides her, her goal is to share emotional connections through her art.
