BOULDER, Colo. – On June 14, the City of Boulder broke ground on a new restaurant and outdoor event lawn at Flatirons Golf Course for the entire community to enjoy food, attend community events, and appreciate the view of the Flatirons from a large, covered patio.

The groundbreaking ceremony was scheduled for Wednesday, June 14 at 9 a.m. Community members were invited to the event. Parking may have been limited due to parking lot construction.

The new facility will include a family-friendly restaurant and bar to serve golf patrons and the whole Boulder community. This new facility will allow community members to enjoy the scenic views from the indoor/outdoor dining area and use a new outdoor activity and event lawn. Indoor restrooms at the facility will replace the temporary restrooms that have been adjacent to the Pro Shop.

The construction project will also include replacing the parking lot and include a drop off area, vegetation islands, a rain garden, EV charging stations, lighting, and bike parking spaces.

The Flatirons Golf Course facility will replace core infrastructure destroyed in the 2013 flood. Deconstruction of the existing snack shack has started with construction of the new building anticipated to take about 12 months. Pro Shop renovations are also a part of this project and are scheduled to be completed towards the end of the project.

The facility will be built in the footprint of the previous facility and surrounding areas. The project team has worked hard to design the facility to be as efficient and cost effective as possible with durable, low-maintenance materials. Approximately 85% of materials from the deconstruction of the snack shack and related site will be reused or recycled.

This project was designed based on input and support from the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and community members. We plan to have a grand opening for the facility in the summer of 2024.
