Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMoCA) Announces Participation in Smithsonian Institution’s Democracy in Dialogue Virtual Exchange Program

BOULDER, CO – December 3, 2024 – Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art is honored and excited to be chosen to participate in a new “virtual exchange program” for teens called Democracy in Dialogue (DiDVE). The program for 14 to 18-year old students is presented by the national Smithsonian Institution.

The arts provide an essential tool for reflection and critique of our current system of democracy. More so than ever, it is also a tool for empathy and understanding. Historically, BMoCA has provided learning opportunities for teens through our teen internship program Studio Project, which also has a prominent social justice focus and that has been engaging local teens for over 14 years.

DiDVE x Studio Project will build on this program and through this collaboration with the Smithsonian, BMoCA hopes to continue to shine a light on the diverse and vibrant local arts community of Boulder and their role in shaping the city.

In addition to instructional support from the Smithsonian, BMoCA will also be partnering with The Oral History Program at Boulder Public Library’s Carnegie Library for Local History. Teens need to apply by January 5, 2025, and the program will run from February through May, 2025.
