Fort Collins, COLO – Locally-owned queer dance collective Full Expression! is hosting a festive evening of diverse art, brilliant performances, and cultural conversations on Saturday, December 14, from 4:00 until 6:00 PM. The showcase and annual fundraiser will feature Colorado dancers, musicians, and live vocalists, set in an exhibition of photography celebrating seven years of the Collective’s impact on Northern Colorado’s creative community. The event will be held at the Center for Creativity (200 Mathews Street Fort Collins, CO 80524) and the exhibition will open Tuesday, December 10 at noon.
A space for all identities, bodies, and beings who have the fire within them to move, Full Expression! is a dance collective focused on creating more safe and equitable experiences through movement, education, and community investment. In our Northern Colorado community, Full Expression! has collaborated with local municipalities, including the City of Ft. Collins, and with many amazing organizations including Fort Collins Children’s Theater, Phamaly Theatre Company in Denver, Candlelight Dinner Playhouse, Colorado State University, and more.
“We are incredibly privileged to be taking a moment of reflection to honor the artists that have been part of our journey for the last seven years. The importance of creating inclusive spaces continues to be crucial and we can’t wait to show our community what we have been creating,” says Full Expression! founder Savannah Svoboda.
In 2024, Full Expression! has opened its doors to its first brick and mortar location, premiered original work on the stages of the Denver Center for Performing Arts, was recognized for the second year running as Fort Collins’s best dance studio / school and has welcomed its first official season offering three full productions. Currently, the company offers in-person and virtual lessons, space for creative markets and makers, free Saturday morning “Stretch, Rest, and Recover” classes, and professional performing opportunities and partners with CSU for student internship and mentoring opportunities.
“I’m always left inspired by the work Full Expression! does to support diverse communities, and I see that reflected in the dancers who are part of the collective, in the way Savannah manages the studio and teams, and in how the community shows up to support Full Expression!” says Nick Heimann, Cultural Community Programs Manager for the City of Fort Collins. “You don’t get a room full of confident, growing, and glowing people without supporting their diversity, needs, and lived experiences day in and day out, grounding their value to the core of every decision. That’s what I see in Full Expression!.”
“Celebrations!” A Full Expression! Showcase is both a performance and community fundraiser generating sustainable funds and partnerships to further the Full Expression! mission. The collective honors all ways of support and will have avenues to do so through financial means, talent, time, skills, and expertise. Full Expression!’s professional and paid opportunities welcome all artists who are looking to train, perform, and express themselves on a deeper level.
