Quemando Salsa
Paradise
Quemando Entertainment
Jazz can be an acquired taste, music that’s close to inaccessible to all but the most devoted of fans. Fortunately, Quemando Salsa isn’t like that. This album isn’t without it’s problems, but being a “difficult” listen isn’t one of them.
At it’s best, Paradise is a lively, enjoyable combo of salsa and jazz, swinging from one direction to the next, throwing curveballs but retaining a sense of silky smooth sexiness. At it’s worst, it sounds like the sort of music you might hear on a cruise ship, or maybe the score from a bad movie.
There’s nothing wrong with the musicians, and vocalist Whitney Moore has a great voice. There’s no questioning the talent of the performers. Unfortunately, the songs on the record don’t hit the mark with enough frequency. We’re told that they’re a beloved live band in the area, and it’s entirely possible that they sound a lot better at night, on a stage. We’ll have to find out.
As of now we are getting over 9000 spin requests per month on about 60 international radio stations.
