(Broomfield, CO) Colorado-based nonprofit Pink Sofa Production Syndicate (abbreviated as “PSPS”), in collaboration with its for-profit counterpart Couched Media LLC, is thrilled to announce the upcoming grand opening of their commercial recording studio, Couched Studios, located in Broomfield, Colorado. Serving as the headquarters for both PSPS and Couched Media, Couched Studios is a hybrid agency and studio concept offering music education, audio and visual recording, live event production, artist development, a community directory, and a physical space where artists and audiences can enjoy and connect through a shared love of music. The goal of PSPS is to expand local musicians’ access to the resources they need to take the next step in their music careers, such as studio time, management assistance, equipment and instrument rentals, rehearsal spaces, workshops, A&R, and marketing direction. Funded by any and all revenue from Couched Media, PSPS not only donates these services at no cost to the artists, but also ensures that the artists retain all ownership rights to their music. Couched Studios will host a soft launch opening jam on Saturday, October 26, then begin full operations on November 1.
As a musician himself, PSPS and Couched Media founder and CEO Pedro Urbina understands that the biggest hurdle for many nascent musicians is getting into a professional studio where they can record high-quality demos to share. “I want to be able to support that kind of person, especially if they’re musically talented, to get the recordings done and get them out there in a serious way,” he emphasizes. So naturally, PSPS’s first big initiative to serve the local music community was to invest nearly a million dollars into a recording studio equipped with the latest in audio and video technology. PSPS plans to use the studio to film more frequent Pink Sofa Hour episodes, as well as hosting free classes, listening sessions, and workshops in the future. Through Couched Media, Couched Studios offers audio recording and editing services at an hourly rate, equipment rentals at a day rate (with a deposit), drop-in and ongoing classes priced per class, and subscription-based podcasts, collaboration opportunities, and other creative services to musicians, visual artists, and podcasters. Every dollar from these paid bookings and services is reinvested into PSPS to support artists who are not able to afford these valuable resources on their own. With the two partner organizations covering a combined range of free and paid comprehensive services, Couched Studios is primed to cater to a diverse clientele of creatives.
With over 1400 square-feet of space, including a comfy lounge area and pink-tiled bathroom, Couched Studios is the perfect location to host intimate performances, listening parties, and other community events. Couched Studios is located at 9456 Cody Drive in Broomfield, Colorado. Local artists, members of the music community, arts-related nonprofits, and media personnel are encouraged to come check out the space for themselves at Couched Studios’s soft launch opening jam on Saturday, October 26, and full operations at Couched Studios will begin November 1. Please RSVP if you plan on attending the launch event by signing up for PSPS’s email list on the PSPS website. About Pink Sofa Production Syndicate:
Pink Sofa Production Syndicate (PSPS) is a Colorado-based nonprofit organization created to change the way people create, consume, and interact with local music. The organization evolved from Pink Sofa Hour, a live-streamed artist interview series started by founder and CEO Pedro Urbina in 2022. Funded by revenue from Couched Media, the for-profit counterpart to PSPS, Pink Sofa Production Syndicate provides local musicians with affordable access to whatever resources they need, including A&R, booking services, equipment rentals, studio time, marketing savvy, content production, promotion, and more. Aiming to bridge the gaps between artists, fans, and venues, PSPS’s platform also publishes venue, concert, and album reviews to foster more conversations around Colorado’s local music culture. Operating out of Couched Studios, PSPS and Couched Media’s shared commercial recording studio in Broomfield, Colorado, PSPS partners with mission-aligned venues, recording studios, labels, equipment and instrument sources, as well as other nonprofit organizations, to ensure that the ever-evolving needs of the local music community are met.
