Camie is in love with the Imperfect Whole, depicted in the wonky circle. The revelation of letting go creates an empty hole, but grasping reassurance is a confession of the empty hole. The empty hole is the space between the greatness we think we should be, and the less than perfect we find in ourselves. The Imperfect Whole is who we are.
In this show, bits and pieces of Camie’s art are gathered and reused in another context. Her present work preserves parts of her experience, and releases what she has made peace with in acknowledgement of her empty hole. Edges of curved forms are not sharp, and emotions tumbled in the consciousness lose their rough edges. Round and round the canvas, fitting pieces into space, she covers past emotions until one large, Imperfect Whole connects the fragments.
“Surrounded by the wonky circles, my Imperfect Whole feels safe and supported. I can be a wonky circle, finding comfort with my Imperfect Whole. Viewers who have seen my past shows might recognise some of the work, and I invite them to see it now. When people view this work, I hope they can feel the ecstasy of letting go of judgement, embracing acceptance, and making peace with their own Imperfect Whole.”
