Velvet Daydream is a band from Denver known for bringing back the “classic rock show.” Chock-full of retro 70s-inspired style, Kaeden Keys (guitar, vocals), Ryder King (guitar, vocals), Jude Pfanstiel (bass, vocals), and Nick Schwartz (drums, vocals), are restoring a style of music that has been dwindling over the past 30 years: rock and roll. This vintage style of showmanship isn’t just for the stage, as it can be heard on their 2023 self-titled debut album ‘The Velvet Daydream’ and on their two follow-up singles ‘Sunflower Sky’ and ‘Revolver’. The band partnered with experts in the art of recording, using holy grails of equipment once used on records from Foreigner, Julian Lennon, and Dream Theater. Authentic to the bone, the band opted to record the album on 1/2 inch tape and preserve the old-school rock and roll feeling. They are shooting for the big time, and with good reason.

Jamaica’s first dancehall superstar, Yellowman ushered in a new era in reggae music following Bob Marley’s death. His early-’80s success brought the popularity of toasting — the reggae equivalent of rapping — to a whole new level, and helped establish dancehall as the wave of the future. For better or for worse, he also epitomized dancehall’s penchant for “slack” lyrics — that is, casual violence, sexism, homophobia, and general rudeness. Graphic sexuality was his particular forte, reaching levels of explicitness previously unheard in Jamaica. It brought him numerous detractors, but it was also a big reason for his early popularity.
There was more to it than that, though; Yellowman was one of the most verbally nimble toasters of his time, with a loose, easy flow, a talent for improvisation, and a definite wit in his wordplay. Plus, all the boasting about his prowess on the mic or in the bedroom had to be over the top to be convincing: true to his stage name, Yellowman is an albino, which carries a tremendous social stigma in Jamaica. His rise to stardom was unlikely enough, but his transformation from untouchable outcast into sex symbol was staggering — and may not even have taken place without his trademark lewdness. Shocking though it could be, it affirmed him as a sexual being just like his listeners, and was delivered with enough humor to let the audience know that he didn’t take himself too seriously.
Bouts with cancer pushed him into more thoughtful, socially conscious territory in the 1990s, but his initial style remains the most influential, paving the way for countless dancehall toasters to follow. He remained quiet through most of the 2000s before mounting a comeback with 2019’s No More War. The LP was the inaugural release on Yellow Baby Records, a label launched by Yellowman’s daughter K’reema, with whom he also collaborates.

Jean Dawson is a genre-defying artist, singer, and songwriter celebrated for his innovative fusion of hip-hop, punk, and experimental pop. Born in Tijuana, Mexico, and raised in San Diego, California, Dawson’s multicultural upbringing deeply influences his eclectic musical style, blending raw energy with introspective storytelling.
Dawson first garnered attention with his 2019 project Bad Sports, which highlighted his unconventional sound and DIY ethos. His 2020 debut album, Pixel Bath, further established his unique position in the alternative music scene, seamlessly integrating distorted guitars, electronic elements, and hip-hop beats. In 2022, he released CHAOS NOW, pushing creative boundaries with high-energy, genre-blending tracks that explored themes of self-discovery and rebellion.
In October 2024, Dawson unveiled his fourth studio album, Glimmer of God. This project showcases his continued evolution as an artist, offering a kaleidoscopic blend of electronic music and alternative rock. The album features collaborations with artists like Lil Yachty on the lead single “Die for Me”. Critics have praised Glimmer of God for its innovative sound and cohesive artistry. Clash Magazine described it as “a virtuosic display of chaotically brilliant songwriting innovation” , while Our Generation Music highlighted it as “the epitome of Dawson’s all-encompassing musical arsenal”.

Much like gumbo, the famous dish of their hometown, the New Orleans-born Cowboy Mouth uses a potent blend of musical ingredients – rock, blues, punk, funk, country, pop, soul and whatever else feels good – to create their bodacious, kickass tunes. Frontman, drummer, and co-founder Fred LeBlanc has asserted “if The Neville Brothers and The Clash had a baby, it would be Cowboy Mouth.” His description not only reflects the group’s amazing diverse sound, but it also conveys the fire and commitment they bring to their music.
Cowboy Mouth has perfected their wonderfully rambunctious style over the band’s three decades together. During that time, they have sold over a half a million albums domestically, performed before more than 10 million people, and played over 3,000 concerts. These relentless road warriors built their reputation and developed their devoted fan base through powerhouse live performances (frequently averaging 250 gigs a year). “With every show, no matter where it is, we try to turn it into New Orleans during the middle of Mardi Gras,” LeBlanc proclaims. “It’s like a southern gospel revival without the religion” – unless your religion is rock ‘n’ roll!
LeBlanc (previously of the punkabilly band Dash Rip Rock) and former Red Rocker guitarist John Thomas Griffith have been guiding Cowboy Mouth from the very beginning. Bassist Brian “Bruiser” Broussard joined the group in 2014, and quickly developed a telepathic groove with drummer LeBlanc (Broussard, by the way, is a beermaster too). The band’s newest member is Frank (aka Frankie G) Grocholski, who has teamed up with Griffith to create a formidable two-man guitar army.
The phrase “Cowboy Mouth” typically is defined as “one with a loud and raucous voice,” and the term fits the band too. This is especially true for their legendary live performances that have been described as celebratory, life-affirming experiences possessing the ability to save souls. The galvanizing connection between band and fans is one reason Cowboy Mouth has stayed strong for so many years. LeBlanc, however, offers another explanation: “bullheaded tenacity and determination, with a pretty healthy dose of faith.”

Andy Falco and Travis Book are both members of the Grammy award winning bluegrass band The Infamous Stringdusters. Inspired by their love of the music of Jerry Garcia, the duo branches off on their own for occasional tours to celebrate Garcia’s timeless songs.
“The project actually originated back stage at ‘Dusters shows where Travis and I would typically warm up with some fun Jerry songs” Falco explains. “At some point we just thought it would be fun to do it in public”. They draw from Garcia’s solo material, his Grateful Dead catalogue, as well as the traditional songs Jerry loved to play.
“Performing this music as a duo allows us to explore the songs and jam in a way that’s unique to playing as a duo,” says Book. “We typically hear these songs in larger ensembles, but the songs done with just bass and guitar somehow make the music very interactive with the audience. It’s really a testament to the quality of the songwriting, and we like to put a spotlight on that aspect of Jerry.”
