The 2025 Boulder County Plein Air Festival
We’re thrilled to have a group of 27 exceptional artists from Colorado and beyond coming to Boulder County to paint images of our incredible landscapes, cityscapes, and mountain scenes.
From Saturday May 31st through Thursday June 5th, this year’s Festival Artists will be painting scenes of Boulder County. “Paint Outs“ will be held at the following locations. Visit them to watch the artists at work.*
- Saturday May 31st, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Downtown Niwot and Downtown Hygiene
- Sunday June 1st, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Downtown Ward
- Monday June 2nd – Paint Outs organized on private properties
- Tuesday June 3rd – Paint Outs on private properties
- Wednesday June 4th – 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Chautauqua Park
- Wednesday June 4th 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. – Downtown Boulder Farmers Market – ALL FESTIVAL ARTISTS REQUIRED TO BE PRESENT
- Friday June 6th – 6 to 9 p.m. Festival Exhibit Opening Reception in the NoBo Art District. Award Winners announced at 7 p.m. – OPEN TO THE PUBLIC – ADDRESS & MORE DETAILS ABOVE
*With exception of Wednesday’s Farmers Market Paint Out, paint outs listed above are optional for Festival artists. They may paint anywhere in Boulder County during the Festival week. Artists record their painting locations and include the information with artwork in the exhibit.
These artists begin painting on Saturday, May 31st and turn in the paintings they have produced at the end of the week. An exhibit with the art they’ve created during the week will be hung in the Community Center gallery at The Armory Apartments in North Boulder. A total of $3,700 in cash awards will be given to the best of the best, as determined by voting by the participating artists themselves.
Exhibit Opening Reception:
Date and Time: Friday, June 6th, 6 – 9 pm
Awards Presentation: 7 pm during the Opening Reception
Location: The Armory Apartments Community Center, 4775 13th St, Boulder 80304
Exhibit Duration:
Following the Opening Reception, the exhibit will be open at The Armory Community Center from June 7-30
Monday – Friday 9 to 6 and Saturdays 10 to 5.

FREE PARKING OPTIONS
Ride your bike and park securely at one of the NEW on-site bike racks you will find at the event! Be sure to bring your bike lock!
Drive to a satellite lot and take the FREE SHUTTLE. Park conveniently and free of charge at the Jefferson County Human Services building, (900 Jefferson County Parkway, Golden, 80401) (MAP) and hop on the free, dedicated shuttle right to the entrance of the event. Shuttles run continuously for the duration of the event.
Ride the RTD W Line to the Jefferson County Government Center/Golden Station and hop on the free shuttle which will run continuously for the duration of the event.
If you have to drive, there are public parking options walkable to the event:

Colorado School of Mines Lot K –(MAP) Located at the corner of 11th Street and Maple Streets

Jackson Street North Public Garage (MAP) located on Jackson Street between 11th and 12th Streets. Offers paid parking using a parking app or kiosk.

Street Parking – all of downtown Golden and the 10th Street corridor is paid parking. Use the kiosk or the HONK parking app.
