Boulder County Commissioners still plan on curbing the building of large homes in unincorporated parts of the county, but the process has been delayed as the elected officials consider oodles of public comment. They’re also waiting to hear from a consultant regarding the economic impact of levying what is, in essence, a fine against those who build their homes too big in wide-open spaces. If you build too big—4,500 square feet in the plains, 3,000 in the mountains—you’d have to mitigate in the form of credits or green upgrades
What’s Next: Commissioners should get the chance to justifiably slow McMansion growth in October with the law taking effect in December.
