Hot summer days have one thing in common with snow days: You’ve got to find something fun and constructive for the kids to do. One obvious choice: take them to the pool. To help you find the best spots around, we at YS rounded up three picks we think are pretty cool for the hotter months.  Peruse our pool guide to find your perfect summer spot.

First on the list: Scott Carpenter Pool. This is Boulder’s only 50-meter pool, and is ideal for both athletic and recreational swimmers. With something for everyone, this pool has a diving board, giant slide, and a shallow area for beginner swimmers. But our favorite feature doesn’t require goggles. Just outside the pool, there’s an astronaut themed playground, large grass area and a free skate park. Can’t get enough? They offer a Splash Pass for unlimited entry.

If you’re near Layayette, check out LaMont Does Outdoor Pool. Here you will enjoy lying out on the soft green grassy area while your kids stay entertained by the many unique features that offer something for everyone. There is a kiddie pool, separate 150-foot water slide and a lap pool with a diving board. Some other fun features are the basketball hoop and sandbox play area.

For those in the Westminster area, you should plan a visit to the Countryside Outdoor Pool. This pool is the perfect spot for parents to take their children because in addition to swimming, visitors can also enjoy outdoor sport options. Like, say, a sand volleyball court, basketball courts and tennis courts. This pool is the perfect place for those closer to the Denver area to take a refreshing dip and have fun with the kids. (Insider tip: Now that it is after July 15, a summer pass is 50% off)

Finding the perfect pool is like finding the perfect playground — the kids are entertained, the bench is in the shade and you get to finally take out that book you’ve been meaning to read. The only difference is that with temperatures the way they are this summer, you’ll be inclined to take a dip yourself and spend some quality time with the kids, maybe even have a go on the water slide.
