PRESS RELEASE

This is not a Yellow Scene Magazine article. This is a press release from the sponsoring organization or group, intended for informational purposes only.

Dear Yellow Scene,

Thank you for being a part of our state-wide corps of volunteers willing to provide mentorship and business guidance to fellow Coloradans! We are reaching out to you with a new opportunity to help entrepreneurs in western Colorado.

Advance West End (AWE) is a business development and diversification initiative to address a 2,700 square mile region in San Miguel and Montrose counties in Western Colorado that include the towns of Nucla, Norwood, and Naturita. Historically, this region has been heavily dependent on mining, leaving it vulnerable to the changing economies in the state. A coal mine closure in 2017 and the planned closure in 2022 of the Tri-State Power Generation facility is driving the push to diversify the economy.

This is where you come in!

The Advance West End Accelerator is a peer and mentor-supported business planning process designed to give its participants “the unfair advantage to succeed”! The AWE Accelerator will run from August 27 through December 10 and include workshops, coaching, and mentorship. The mentorship component will begin in early to mid-September and mentors will be expected to contribute about 2-4 hours per month of time with their mentees.

Click Here to indicate your willingness to help!

Eight companies will be participating in the Accelerator, including both start-ups and existing businesses that have been impacted by Covid-19. They represent small food manufacturers, small groceries, tourism-related businesses, and an equine therapy enterprise, to name a few. Each business will be matched with three mentors specializing in Strategy, Marketing, and Finance.

You have been chosen because you have indicated an expertise in one or more of these business specialties, and we hope that you will be a part of this important, community-based accelerator.

We thank you for continuing to play a role in Coloradans helping Coloradans!
