2 Eggs Over Erie: Local High Schoolers Shoot for the Stars

Erie, CO–TARC is The American Rocketry Challenge. It is the world’s largest rocket contest with nearly 5,000 students competing each year. the contest gives middle and high school students the opportunity to design, build, and launch model rockets through hands- on experience. Building and launching these rockets gives students the ability to learn how to solve engineering problems as they build their rockets.

This year, students at the Erie High School Academy of Engineering and Aerospace program set out to participate in TARC as their senior capstone project. The team is made up of Tyler Haskins, John-Paul Schubert, Christian Brooks, Carlos Cisneros Jr., and Colin Shoning. Qualifying launches will be submitted to TARC this week and the students will continue to improve on their design throughout the year for their Senior Design final class grade. By the end of the year, the team hopes to have improved and refined their creative and analytical thinking skills to be better prepared for their future engineering endeavors.
