Moving to End Sexual Assault (MESA) presents The Canine Classic 5K

Do-it-yourself run/walk to culminate with Fievel’s Follies outdoor event on Saturday, April 30^th

Boulder County, Colo., April 18, 2022 – Moving to End Sexual Assault (MESA) presents their annual Canine Classic 5K, a do-it-yourself run/walk fundraiser occurring the week of April 23^rd – April 30^th. Participants will celebrate their involvement in this event with an after party on Saturday, April 30^th entitled Fievel’s Follies (named in honor of MESA’s Facility Dog, Fievel), held at 1455 Dixon Avenue, Lafayette, Colo. from 10am-1:00pm. Fievel’s Follies is family- and dog-friendly and will feature a variety of vendors specifically catering to animal lovers. Sponsored by Elevations Credit Union, proceeds from The Canine Classic will benefit MESA, a not-for-profit program of Mental Health Partners (MHP) that has been serving as the sexual violence resource center for the Boulder County community since 1972.

Among the activities at Fievel’s Follies, participants can book on-site dog-massages with Peak Animal Wellness & Massage, take part in customized pet photography sessions with Furever Friends Pet Photography, purchase animal snacks with Bone Apétreat, capture selfies with Fievel, and more. The MAINE Event food truck will also be present with an array of New England inspired food and traditional classics including lobster rolls.

The Canine Classic 5K enjoys an 18-year legacy as one of MESA’s largest fundraising events, funding critical work in sexual violence prevention, education, and resources for victims. “We’re excited to bring our community together for dog-friendly fun in support of MESA’s work to end sexual violence,” said Janine D’Anniballe, Ph.D., Director of Trauma Services at MESA. “In the last year, we have seen an unprecedented increase in calls to our 24-hour hotline underscoring immense need. MESA strives to be proactive to prevent sexual violence from happening. In partnering with us for this event, the community can support our mission and join us in Moving to End Sexual Assault. Plus, participants who pick up their amazing t-shirt at Fievel’s Follies have the chance to take a selfie with Fievel himself – and that alone is worth the registration fee!”

The cost to register is $35 and includes a commemorative t-shirt, custom-designed by local artist Kristin Sheldon of Heartstrings Card Company in Boulder, CO.
