Longmont, Colorado: Small Planet eBikes announces a fresh and zesty new name for the New Year. Effective January 4, the shop is called Spice eBikes.

The shop maintains its easily accessible presence at 724 Main Street in Longmont and continues to sell eBikes and accessories, offer a full-service maintenance shop, and take both Colorado and Boulder eBike vouchers.

Tom Wilson opened Small Planet eBikes in 2009, before most people had heard of eBikes. Amy Wilkins, a Longmont resident of 20 years, purchased the store in February 2023 to carry forward Wilson’s vision of helping the planet by reducing car use.

“I knew that the name Spice eBikes was a little out of the box for bike shops but I wanted a name that evoked my personality, my vision for the ways eBikes can spice up the lives of all customers,” said Wilkins. ”Everyone here embraces the idea that the process of buying an eBike should be fun and not intimidating.”

As the oldest eBike-specific shop in Colorado, the store has always been an industry pioneer, offering a revolutionary vision that eBikes could provide a true transportation alternative for Longmont families, commuters, and recreational riders alike.

Wilkins’ vision for the new brand developed out of her experience talking with her customers and riding eBikes herself. She wanted to shift the brand to focus more on her customer-centric vision for the store.

“Our customers tell us that eBikes are ‘game-changers,’ Wilkins said. “EBikes open up peoples’ lives in unexpected ways. I wanted a brand that made the excitement of eBikes come alive.”

As a woman-owned and -operated shop, the brand conveys Wilkins’ excitement about offering an inclusive, approachable shopping experience in which both new and seasoned cyclists can find the technical expertise and products they need.

As a small, intimate shop, Spice eBikes hopes to be best in class at offering outstanding personalized customer service, paired with the widest ‘spice rack’ of quality eBikes in the county.

The new logo stands for the Boldness, Charge, Flow, and Spice customers’ experience and their continued connection to the shop community when they ride the shops’ eBikes. Stop by soon and see how you can add Spice to your transportation life!
