We are pleased to announce Lotus and Lion—a groundbreaking exhibition that invites visitors into a contemplative, immersive journey through sacred art, set within a serene mountain landscape.

This juried exhibition will be on view from May 23 through September 2, Wednesdays through Sundays, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at Shoshoni Yoga Retreat.

Lotus and Lion presents a dynamic and diverse array of contemporary works inspired by the profound traditions of Buddhism and Hinduism. Featuring original paintings, thangkas, sculpture, printmaking, mixed media, and more, the exhibition reimagines ancient archetypes through the lens of modern expression—inviting reflection, reverence, and discovery.

In an era increasingly defined by digital experiences, Lotus and Lion offers a rare opportunity to engage with sacred art in person. The natural beauty and contemplative atmosphere of Shoshoni Yoga Retreat provide an ideal setting to experience these works as they were intended: not simply as objects of aesthetic admiration, but as vessels of wisdom, presence, and spiritual resonance.

The exhibition brings together 45 artists from around the world, uniting emerging voices with internationally acclaimed masters. Among them is Tibetan painter Karma Phuntsok, whose series Three Precious Jewels is currently featured at the Denver Art Museum. He will debut new original pieces created specifically for Lotus and Lion.

Exhibition Space:

Shoshoni Yoga Retreat is a residential ashram and spiritual retreat center nestled in the Rocky Mountains above Boulder, CO. It provides sacred space for individuals to practice meditation and yoga, connect with nature, and experience inner joy. The exhibition will span several gallery spaces on the retreat grounds, including the Yoga Hall and Yoga Mandir, as well as other public areas.

The exhibition is co-juried by Faith Stone, founder of the American Buddhist Art School and visual curator at Shoshoni, and Sarah Magnatta, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Global Contemporary Art at the University of Denver.
