LEADVILLE, Colo. – Visitors and residents can hop aboard a new, free weekend shuttle connecting the historic town of Leadville with the scenic village of Twin Lakes. The Twin Lakes Summer Shuttle will operate every Saturday and Sunday from June 7 through August 31, providing a fun, stress-free way to explore this treasured corner of the Colorado Rockies.

Funded by Lake County Government’s Tourism & Economic Development Department, along with community partners Angel View at Twin Lakes and Climax Mine (Freeport-McMoRan), the shuttle service aims to boost regional connectivity, reduce traffic during summer construction on CO-82, and support local tourism and small businesses.

“We’re excited to offer a new, free summer shuttle between Leadville and Twin Lakes,” said Director of Tourism and Economic Development Adam Ducharme. “This is about more than just transportation—it’s about creating access to one of Colorado’s most majestic and historic areas. It helps our visitors, supports our businesses, and promotes sustainability.”

Downtowner will operate the shuttle, the same provider that runs Leadville’s weekday transit system. Riders can park in downtown Leadville behind the Tabor Opera House and catch the shuttle at 3rd and Harrison Avenue. In Twin Lakes, the pick-up and drop-off point will be at the back of the Twin Lakes Visitor Center parking lot.

Twin Lakes is a must-see summer destination with glacial lakes, towering peaks, historic trails, and charming shops. This free shuttle makes it easier—and greener—to get there.
