ABOUT THE COMPANY:

The Band of Toughs (BoTs) are a Colorado based “collaboratory.” The BoTs are a group of interdisciplinary artists that banded together in 2009 to produce genre-mashing theatre events with a rock and roll sensibility. The Band of Toughs have produced over a dozen genre shattering works on the Front Range. Their artists are widespread and varying, but all share the belief that theatre should be passionate, kinetic, fun, inspiring and engaging.

In 2009, the Band of Toughs creative team debuted with Big Love, garnering multiple Denver Post Ovation awards, including Best Comedy of 2009, as well as the Westword’s “Best Debut on a Denver Stage.” Other original productions and adaptations have included Finders Keepers, Losers Weepers, (re)production, a staged reading of 8 in a co-production with Out Boulder, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Thugs, Moulin Scrooge, and I Miss My MTV. Under the Stars with the Brews and the Bard: As You Like It was run in 2012, 2016 and 2021 to audience acclaim. It won Audience Choice Best of Fringe at Boulder International Fringe Festival in 2016. Nirvamlet, a rocktale adventure of a grunge murder most foul, ran at Boulder International Fringe Festival in 2018 and was restaged in 2019 at Denver Performing Arts Complex. The 2019 restaging won a True West Award that year for Uncommon Grounds: Theatre in Unusual Spaces. The original staging of Gin and Gothic was awarded the Best Immersive show of 2024 by Onstage Colorado.
