Black History Month is alive in Five Points this Saturday, February 21, 2026 — and you’re invited to celebrate culture, history, travel, and jazz all day long in Five Points and at brother jeff’s Cultural Center!

JAZZ ROOTS – All Day Beginning at Noon

We kick off at 12:00 PM with a powerful Dr. Daddio Second Line Brass Band procession starting at the Blair-Caldwell African American Research Library (2401 Welton) and marching to Brother Jeff’s Cultural Center (2836 Welton).

Feel the rhythm. Walk the history. Celebrate the legacy.

2:00 PM – Blacks in Africa Discussion

If you love travel, global connections, and diasporic conversations, join us at 2836 Welton for a dynamic dialogue featuring Dr. Jason Shankle, brother jeff, and community voices exploring the rich intersections between Africa and the African American experience. Expect insight. Expect energy. Expect inspiration.

7:00 PM – Joe Bonner Legacy Jam Session

The evening closes with an unforgettable tribute jam honoring the legendary Joe Bonner, featuring:

• Hugh Ragin – trumpet
• Stafford Hunter – trombone
• Vince Wiggins – flute

This is Black cultural excellence in motion — music, scholarship, procession, and community under one roof and along historic Welton Street.
